Michigan opened up the lead, 49-13, after Denard Robinson tossed an 18-yard touchdown to Roy Roundtree to end a five-play, 41-yard drive. The Wolverines’ punt return set Michigan up to start the drive.
Alex Amidon had a productive quarter for Boston College with four catches for 52 yards, but the Eagles still trail 15-10. Northwestern’s Jeff Budzien made a 20-yard field goal, the last of an 18-play, 93-yard drive to give the Wildcats the lead, 15-10.
Mark Weisman rushed for 41 yards and one touchdown, and the Iowa Hawkeyes now lead 24-16. Iowa made its lead 24-13 when Weisman ran two yards to paydirt on the last play of a four-play, 75-yard drive. The key play on the Hawkeyes’ drive was James Vandenberg’s 51-yard pass.
Penn State is in the driver’s seat as it leads 27-0 after the third quarter. The Nittany Lions expanded their lead to 27-0 thanks to a four-play, 44-yard drive that ended when Matt McGloin found Allen Robinson open for a 25-yard touchdown pass.
Michigan scored 28 second-quarter points and holds a commanding 42-13 lead. Massachusetts closed the gap to 14-3 when Brendon Levengood kicked a 25-yard field goal to cap a 66-yard drive. The Minutemen’s drive stalled at the Wolverines’ two-yard line and Massachusetts settled for a field goal.
Iowa’s front seven stepped up in the second quarter, allowing Northern Iowa to gain just 20 rushing yards, and the Hawkeyes have taken the lead 17-13.
