A new episode of BTN’s new original series, Impact The World, airs at 10:30 p.m. ET Tuesday. Hosted by Dennis Haysbert, the weekly program showcases some of the incredible Big Ten breakthroughs that are changing lives in the United States and around the world. The final installment of the eight-episode series will explore ground-breaking safety developments from three Big Ten universities, ranging from the military and law enforcement to homeland security:
On Thursday night Ohio State’s Samantha Prahalis had a game for the ages as the Buckeyes senior guard scored a school-record 42 points in her last home game and Ohio State beat Minnesota 81-56. She finished with six rebounds, four assists and three steals before leaving to a standing ovation with 2:27 left after breaking Katie Smith’s 1994 record by hitting two free throws.
Matt Gatens scored 33 points and grabbed three rebounds to lift Iowa to a 67-66 upset win over No. 15 Wisconsin on Thursday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. Iowa (15-13) shot 48 percent from the field (24-of-50). It was the second straight career-high for Gatens, who had 30 points in Iowa’s win over then-No. 18 Indiana on Sunday (full recap). Iowa fans rushed the court (see the video in this post) to celebrate the win.
A handful of Big Ten women’s basketball games on Thursday night including Purdue at Michigan. Brittany Rayburn scored 15 points to help Purdue break a three-game losing streak with a 60-49 win over Michigan. Loads of other action tonight. Track the scores on the Big Ten scoreboard and dive inside this post for highlights from around the conference.

You have questions, I have answers in my weekly Big Ten mailbag. For instance, why was San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh working at a recent Indiana Hoosiers game? Watch the video to find out. There were plenty of other hoop queries in my mailbag this week with the season winding down. In case you were wondering, the Big Ten tourney kicks off March 8 in Indianapolis. Tickets are available Monday.
