Dienhart: This Wild Basketball Ride Continues

While I wait for some Big Ten team – any Big Ten team – to take charge of this way-crazy, makes-no-sense Big Ten race, it’s time for this week’s 3-pointers from a cornfield somewhere outside Decatur, Illinois, on I-72. Check out my latest mailbag and drop me a note, read my Q&A with Ohio State’s William Buford, and let me know what you think of the season so far in the comments box at the and of this column. I also plan to attend and cover Wisconsin at Illinois on Sunday, and who knows how that one could go? Three

Impact the World

Coming Up on 'Impact the World'

The third of the eight-episode series will showcase three Big Ten research programs with key implications at home, abroad and in space.  The episode will air at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Jan. 24. Whether moving 55 miles per hour on the highway or 200 on a racetrack, a car out of control means danger for drivers and those around them. The level of danger often depends on the car’s speed of impact with an object, like a wall or safety barrier. Ohio State Buckeyes guard William Buford

One-on-One: Ohio State's William Buford Q&A

Expectations are big at Ohio State. And William Buford and the Buckeyes aren’t running away from them. It’s Final Four or bust for the Buckeyes. Why not? This team is loaded with talent, including Jared Sullinger, Aaron Craft, Deshaun Thomas, among others. And then there’s Buford, the lone senior on the squad. The 6-6 guard is the one teammates look to for leadership with players like Dallas Lauderdale, Jon Diebler and David Lighty gone from last year’s team that entered the NCAA tourney as the No. 1 overall seed. Alas, the season ended with a loss to Kentucky in the

Late heroics send Penn State past Illinois

Tim Frazier hit the game-winning shot with six seconds to go and Illinois missed as a shot as time expired giving Penn State a 54-52 win over No. 25 Illinois on Thursday. See the box score here. Cammeron Woodyard scored 17 points, hauled in four rebounds, and made 6-of-10 shots from the floor for Penn State. The Fighting Illini shot just 35 percent from the field (17-of-49), Brandon Paul had 20 points, and Meyers Leonard finished with 15 points. There are no men’s games on Friday but three more on Saturday. Check out the latest Big Ten standings. Penn State
