Dec. 4 Big Ten Hoops Roundup

There were five Big Ten men’s hoops games Sunday, including a doubleheader on BTN. No. 8 Baylor took down Northwestern (recap) in the first game and Mississippi nipped Penn State (recap) in the nightcap. In other action, Indiana thrashed Stetson (recap), Michigan State drilled Nebraska Omaha (recap) and Creighton topped Nebraska (recap). Did You See This? IU Honors '87 Team

At halftime of Sunday’s game against Stetson at Assembly Hall, Indiana honored its 1987 national championship team. Star and Big Ten icon Steve Alford was there, as was Keith Smart, the man who hit the game-winning jumper against Syracuse to clinch the national title, among others. Watch now as the school introduced its popular champions to the Assembly Hall faithful Sunday night. And the current Hoosiers treated the 1987 team to an easy 84-50 win. Did You See This? Penn State's Frazier

One of the Big Ten’s most underrated stars, Penn State’s Tim Frazier is quietly making a name for himself. The junior point guard entered Sunday night’s game against Mississippi averaging 19.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 2.5 steals per game – all team highs – and he provided two of the louder and more impressive points of his season on a highlight-reel alley-oop. Dienhart: Two Teams Deliver One for the Ages

INDIANAPOLIS – The notion of three yards and cloud of dust was trashed on this night. Instead, the inaugural Big Ten championship game was a celebration of yards, points–and more yards and points. And a running into the kicker penalty on Michigan State that killed the Spartans’ last hope to score to rally for the winning score.

Roses are Red! Wisconsin wins Big Ten Thriller

In a game filled with action from start to finish, Wisconsin defeated Michigan State to win the first Big Ten Football Championship Game, 42-39. BTN.com’s Tom Dienhart writes that few thought this game had much of a chance to live up to the first meeting in October but it certainly did. Now Wisconsin heads to their second straight Rose Bowl on Jan. 2, thanks in large part to Montee Ball’s 137 rushing yards and four total touchdowns.
