I’ve said it several times: College football polls shouldn’t come out until at least October. You know, until we see what the teams look like and how they perform against quality competition. Well, with the calendar flipped to October, that means we’ve seen enough football to also consider other things. Like, for example, player rankings. View my first Big Ten player rankings of the season in this post.
It’s never too early to make postseason plans, right? Yes, it is. Well, forget all of that and play along with me in my weekly bowl projections. It’s fun to play make-believe! Iowa was the biggest mover in my weekly bowl prognostications, as I now have the Hawkeyes in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, where they would play Baylor. Minnesota fell to the Little Caesar’s Bowl—if it is able to reach bowl eligibility, which could be difficult.

“Perseverance: The Story of Dr. Billy Taylor” is a powerful new documentary exploring the life of one of Michigan’s greatest running backs. The show airs Monday night at 9:30 p.m. ET following a re-air of the Michigan-Notre Dame game on BTN/BTN2Go. The film highlights Taylor’s college glories but also explores the setbacks that destroyed his reputation and set him on a 25-year roller coaster ride to recover it. See a preview of it in this post.
Week 5 of the college football season is in the books, and while it wasn’t a jampacked Saturday in the Big Ten, it was certainly an exciting one. Ohio State edged out Wisconsin, 31-24, in a game that certainly lived up to the hype. Iowa found a way to grind out an impressive road win over Minnesota, while Illinois cruised to an easy 50-14 victory over Miami (Ohio). Purdue continues to struggle as the Boilermakers fell 55-24 to Northern Illinois.
