Before the day started, we all said that Michigan State was carrying the Big Ten’s tattered banner. The Spartans appeared to be the best team in the Big Ten and they also appeared to be the league’s best hope to be a national title contender.
Keith Wenning threw for three touchdowns and caught another Saturday, and Steven Schott made a 42-yard field goal as time expired to give Ball State its third straight win over Indiana, 41-39.
Utah State’s Josh Thompson missed a 37-yard field goal with seconds remaining, allowing Wisconsin to hold on for a 16-14 victory Saturday night. Thompson missed the kick wide right, preserving a win for the Badgers (2-1).
Ball State’s defense held tough in the third quarter, holding Indiana to 32 total yards of offense and the Cardinals have taken the lead 38-25. Ball State’s front seven stepped up in the quarter, allowing the Hoosiers to gain just 10 rushing yards.
