CHICAGO – The Big Ten has always been a steady contributor to the NBA, and this year is no different with plenty of Big Ten student-athletes officially entering the NBA Draft. BTN will help tell their stories when it airs a special NBA Draft Preview edition of the Big Ten Basketball Report at 9 p.m. ET Friday. The 30-minute special will include interviews with some of the Big Ten’s top draft entrants and also will give viewers an inside look at the draft process.

Cael Sanderson - Big Ten Championship Interview

It was all about the wrestling team when it came to the 2011-12 athletic year at Penn State. The Nittany Lions won their second consecutive national crown in dominating fashion, beating Big Ten rival and runner-up Minnesota by 25.5 points. What’s more, a trio of Penn State stars won the national title in his respective weight class — Frank Molinaro (149), David Taylor (165) and Ed Ruth (174). Taylor, a sophomore, also claimed the Dan Hodge Trophy, awarded to the National Wrestler of the Year.

Aaron Craft Heads to the Final Four

As easy as one, two, three. The Ohio State men’s basketball team claimed a share of its third consecutive Big Ten championship this spring to highlight the school’s 2011-12 academic season. The Buckeyes didn’t stop at the regular-season crown, though, earning a No. 2 seed in the NCAA tourney and advancing to its first Final Four since Greg Oden and Mike Conley Jr. led the way in 2006-07. Ohio State lost to eventual runner-up Kansas in the national semis, but it was another memorable season for Thad Matta and the Buckeyes.

BTN aired its fifth annual BTN Awards Show on Monday night. The biggest winners: Michigan State’s Draymond Green and Ohio State’s Christina Manning, the winners of the Big Ten’s prestigious Jesse Owens and Suzy Favor Awards, respectively. Dave Revsine, Mike Hall and Rick Pizzo hosted the hour-long special, which also handed out awards for categories such as “Breakout Performer” and “Game of the Year,” to name a couple. (AP) — Ohio State is paying football coach Urban Meyer $4 million per year, more money than his predecessor, along with specific requirements for reporting violations of NCAA rules. The university has completed a seven-year contract with Meyer that the board of trustees is expected to approve later this week. Meyer was hired last November to rebuild the program, which got a one-year bowl ban for NCAA rules violations under former coach Jim Tressel.
