Week 3 of the college football season wasn’t the kindest to the Big Ten, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t plenty of outstanding plays. As a whole, the Big Ten went 7-5 on Saturday, as Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota and Northwestern are the only unbeaten teams remaining in the conference. With that said, it’s time to go back in time and take a look at the top plays and twitter reactions from this past weekend.
Three weeks are in the books. And this much I know: I don’t know what to make about a lot of teams. My Big Ten power rankings, presented by ArcelorMittal, didn’t suffer a massive shakeup following a strange Saturday. Michigan State and Minnesota are most upwardly mobile; Penn State and Illinois took significant hits. Check it out.
Week 3 was a mixed bag for the Big Ten, which went a disappointing 7-5, including a 1-3 mark vs. the Pac-12. And, in some ways, it seemed fitting the end to a bizarre Saturday was capped by a finish to the Wisconsin-Arizona State game that still has my head spinning. Here is a look around the Big Ten’s third week of action.
Before we turn our attention to Week 4, it’s time to revisit how the BTN.com team and Big Ten fans did with their Week 3 Big Ten predictions. Brent Yarina led the way with a 10-2 clip to move into a first-place tie with Sean Merriman and Big Ten fans, who both went 9-3 to move to 30-6 on the season.
A strange and bizarre Week 3 ended late on Saturday night (or early on Sunday morning, depending on where you were) in the heat of the Tempe, Ariz., on a weird final play in the Wisconsin-Arizona State game. Many lessons can be learned from the controversial conclusion that cost Wisconsin a victory. Here’s what I learned over the entirety of a strange Saturday.
