Here's the coolest Big Ten video you'll see today

Earlier this week we pointed out some pretty cool sneak peek videos from our upcoming show “The Journey 2012,” but the video in this post is worth watching and sharing with any Big Ten fans you know. It’s the opening to Wednesday’s season debut, which airs at 7:30 p.m. ET, and it’s gorgeous. What do you think? Ready to strap on the pads and hit something? Go tell the guys who put the show together yourself. Our producers are on Twitter @BTNJourney and Facebook. They also deliver some extremely sharp photos via Instagram (BTNJourney). Big Ten bright spots appear in bumpy 2012

Raise your hand if you’re positively sick and tired of hearing all of the negativity about the Big Ten? I’m not saying the criticism isn’t deserved, because it is, and in the end it’s the football teams that can do the most about it. The Big Ten is 6-9 combined against schools from Automatic Qualifying conferences and Notre Dame, and Northwestern provided three of those wins. I never envisioned the Wildcats doing the heavy lifting for the Big Ten through one month of the 2012 season, but there you go. I’ve watched some of every Big Ten game so far

Montee Ball

Big Ten Links: Breaking down Friday's headlines

Good news, Badger fans: Montee Ball has been cleared to play at Nebraska after suffering a concussion last week  against UTEP. Think Urban Meyer and Mark Dantonio have breakfast together on Saturday? Probably not. Have a look at some advice for Iowa fans from a familiar name. And what does the U.S. population have to do with recruiting? I found one theory. Let’s get to all of the links right now in this post. Should Ball play? This is Ball’s second concussion since Aug. 1. Wisconsin has some other good options at running back in James White and Melvin Gordon.

Week 5 Previews: What to look for in Big Ten play

Earlier this week I helped take a look at who might land in the 2012 Big Ten Football Championship game. Well, the road to that big game starts Saturday as Big Ten teams put a rocky non-conference run behind them and focus on pounding on each other. In this post, I take a close look at all six games, and then I’m headed to East Lansing to cover Ohio State and Michigan State on Saturday. Also, every Saturday BTN.com editors provide Rapid Recaps with quarterly updates from every game topped off with my Saturday Snap Reactions. Get those quarterly updates

#BTNLive talks extensively with Tom Osborne

Tom Osborne has had what the soft-spoken former football coach might call “an eventful week.” On Tuesday the Nebraska legend announced his retirement as athletic director at the school where he racked up three national titles as the Huskers football coach. On Thursday, the 75-year-old former coach and administrator was a guest for a 15-minute interview on “#BTNLive.” Watch the entire conversation in this post.
