BTN Profiles Ohio State Softball's Alicia Herron

In the latest Big Ten player profile from the Big Ten Network, we meet Ohio State Buckeyes softball shortstop Alicia Herron, who lost her mother Janet Herron a year ago to gastric cancer. Herron’s mother was Alicia’s biggest fan attending every game and practice during her high school career. “She was really proud of us having a focus on something,” Alicia Herron said.

Saturday's Big Ten Baseball Roundup

Penn State baseball (24-22, 10-7) clinched its fourth-straight Big Ten series on Saturday evening, defeating the Minnesota Golden Gophers by a score of 5-1 at Target Field. BTN, Big Ten Baseball to hit Target Field

Minnesota and Penn State will be the latest Big Ten baseball teams to play in a MLB stadium when the Gophers and Nittany Lions open a three-game series in Minneapolis. They’ll play indoors at the Metrodome on Friday and Sunday but Saturday’s game airs at 3 p.m. ET on BTN live from Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins.Earlier this season, Illinois faced Missouri at Busch Stadium in St. Louis (see video in this post).

Dienhart: Q&A with Michigan State's Dantonio

Michigan State is one of the hottest programs in the Big Ten—if not the nation. And the Spartans can thank Mark Dantonio. Since arriving from Cincinnati to assume command in 2007, Dantonio has forged a 44-22 record in six seasons, including a 27-13 mark in the Big Ten. And each season, Michigan State has gone to a bowl, highlighted by a win over Georgia in the Outback Bowl after last season. Dantonio also beat rival Michigan for a fourth consecutive season in 2011, forever endearing him to Spartan fans.
