Penn State basketball coach Patrick Chambers pledged to donate $10 to THON 2013 for every student who attended the Iowa-Penn State game Thursday night. Friday, before the students embarked on 46 consecutive hours of dancing, Chambers addressed the THON participants and presented a $14,200 check from the men’s basketball program.
In front of a season-high 5,800 fans, Michigan outlasted in-state rival Michigan State to claim its third straight victory, 70-69, Saturday afternoon at Crisler Center. The Wolverines relied on a career-high 24 points from senior guard Jenny Ryan to help snap a 12-game losing streak against the Spartans. There were many winners this week in the Big Ten. But none were bigger than Indiana and Michigan State, which notched impressive victories that solidified their place atop the standings. And, it sets up what should be a huge game on Tuesday, when the Hoosiers visit the Spartans in this week’s version of the “Game of the Year.”
Don’t fret if your school didn’t sign any five-star recruits during the recent National Signing Day for football. And don’t worry if your favorite team came up short on inking four-star players, either. History has shown that many good players arrive on campus as two- recruits. Really. It’s true.

Devyn Marble scored 22 points and Melsahn Basabe blocked a potential game-tying layup with 21 seconds left to help Iowa hold off Penn State 74-72 on Thursday night. Iowa (16-9, 5-7 Big Ten) led by at least 10 twice in the game but couldn’t put away the league’s last-place team until late.

Ohio State’s Sam Thompson has proven to be a master dunker this season, and he put on a bit of a show on Thursday night in the win over Northwestern. After a tight game that went back and forth (full coverage here), the Buckeyes pulled ahead late. And that’s when Thompson executed an uncontested 360-degree dunk.
