'Journey' profiles Tre Roberson, Kain Colter

On Wednesday’s “The Journey: Big Ten Football,” we profiled quarterbacks Tre Roberson (Indiana) and Kain Colter (Northwestern). The former suffered a season-ending broken leg in September, but he still prepares every day as though he’s the starter. Meanwhile, the latter has several interesting ties to Northwestern. Watch a clip from the show that spotlights the dual-threat quarterbacks now and see our bonus content in this post. Did you miss the first two episodes this season? We put them all on BTN2Go. Clothes Call: The latest on Big Ten hoops uniforms

We’re just a couple weeks away from the official tip of the 2012-13 college basketball season. With three teams ranked in the top 5 of the preseason Coaches Poll, the Big Ten is expected to be the nation’s premier conference. But before the season tips, Clothes Call wanted to take a look at some of the uniform changes Big Ten fans can expect to see this season. For starters, every Big Ten team’s uniform has at least one new wrinkle: The required “B1G” patch on the left shoulder. Some teams have it standing alone, while others have it placed above

Penn State is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 20 at Michigan. Read the full recap at GoPSUSports.com. Watch the highlights now and dive inside for more volleyball video coverage. Dienhart: Q&A with NU's Nick VanHoose

Northwestern has been a surprise team this season, jetting to a 6-1 mark to become the first bowl-eligible Big Ten squad. Now, with a big home game vs. Nebraska looming, Northwestern can dare to dream big. How big? Why not contemplate winning the Legends Division and the Big Ten for the first time since 2000? It’s possible, thanks to a large degree to the defense. Redshirt freshman cornerback Nick VanHoose has played a big role on a unit that has made significant strides. Last season, Northwestern’s defense had myriad breakdowns, suffering communication issues in the back end and yielding too

Mailbag: What's up with Ohio State's defense?

You have Big Ten questions, and I have answers. In this week’s Mailbag, I offer my prediction on who will meet in the second annual Big Ten title game and address Ohio State’s struggling defense. And don’t be afraid to send questions for future Mailbags. Or you can send them my way on Twitter (@BTNTomDienhart). Indiana tops Coaches Poll; 3 B1G teams ranked in top 5

Indiana is ranked No. 1 in the preseason Coaches Poll, released Wednesday. As impressive as that is, the bigger story might be that the Big Ten features three of the poll’s top 5 teams. That’s right, Ohio State comes in at No. 4 and Michigan No. 5. Michigan State (No. 14) and Wisconsin (No. 21) round out the Big Ten representatives. [VIDEO: Watch Tailgate 48 interview with Tom Crean] Here’s what the poll says about the Big Ten teams: INDIANA “No. 1 Indiana. Points: 761 (21 first-place votes). Previous ranking: 13. Big Ten Links: What will season's second half bring?

The second half of the Big Ten season has to be better than the first half, right? Well, that’s what Lee Barfknecht of the Omaha World-Herald is thinking. There have been few—if any, honestly—impressive non-conference victories. Michigan State over Boise State is probably about it, but there have been plenty of embarrassing losses. And when the first BCS standings were released last Sunday, not one Big Ten team appeared in them. Backup plan: If Iowa running back sensation Mark Weisman can’t play against Penn State after hurting an ankle last week at Michigan State, Hawkeye commentator and ex-Iowa star Ed
