1st quarter recap: Purdue 13, Ohio State 7

Purdue used two big plays to jump out to a 13-7 lead in the first quarter at Ohio State. Purdue opened the game with Caleb TerBush throwing an 83-yard touchdown pass to Akeem Shavers on the first play, and Akeem Hunt returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown. Ohio State scored its touchdown on a Braxton Miller 8-yard scamper, capping a 67-yard drive. Purdue has the ball at its own 33-yard line to begin the second quarter. 1st quarter recap: Wisconsin 7, Minnesota 6

First-time starter Philip Nelson threw for 34 yards and one touchdown and ran for 31 yards in the first quarter, but the Golden Gophers trail 7-6. Wisconsin threw for 87 yards during the quarter. The Badgers took the game’s first lead after James White, out of the Wildcat, scored on a 14-yard touchdown on the last play of a three-play, 59-yard drive. It was a festive Friday night in Iowa city as the Iowa men’s and women’s basketball team held their “Black & Gold Blowout” event as part of the traditional “Midnight Madness.” See video highlights in this post, including a clip of Iowa men’s coach Fran McCaffrey and Iowa women’s coach Lisa Bluder each arriving in style. Penn State Shuts Out Ohio State 3-0

The No. 7 Penn State field hockey team continued its hunt for the Big Ten Championship Friday afternoon, defeating No. 21 Ohio State 3-0 for the fourth conference win of the season. The Nittany Lions, now 13-3 overall with a 4-1 mark in the Big Ten, currently rest atop the Big Ten standings.
