Buckeyes, Illini advance to title game

Illinois shut out top-seeded Penn State 1-0 in Friday’s first semifinal of the 2012 Big Ten Women’s Soccer Tournament, then Ohio State edged Michigan 2-1 in the second game on BTN/BTN2Go. Welcome to the calm before the storm of football Saturday. First up on my Friday links is a look at Michigan. I’m gonna go ahead and call the Wolverines’ game at Minnesota a must-win if they want to stay in the Legends Division race – just look at the standings. So, what is it that the Wolverines must do to defeat the Golden Gophers? Kyle Meinke of tells us here. A big key: getting more production from running back Fitz Toussaint. Yes, the line may be having issues opening holes, but at some point, Toussaint has to make plays.

Here are a few individual highlights from Michigan’s exhibition game on Thursday night, including Glenn Robinson III with the steal and coast-to-coast drive for the jam against Northern Michigan. There was also an alley-oop from Tim Hardaway Jr. to Robinson. Michigan won the game 83-47 and Spike Albrecht led the Wolverines with 16 points.
