Michigan’s aerial assault is on point, as the margin is still four, as the Wolverines lead 14-10 thanks to 108 passing yards in the quarter. Michigan made its lead 14-3 when Denard Robinson and Devin Funchess hooked up for a 30-yard touchdown on the last play of an eight-play, 88-yard drive. Robinson’s 29-yard pass to Funchess took the Wolverines from the 26 and across midfield to ignite the drive.

1st Quarter Recap: Iowa State 6, Iowa 3

Iowa State stuffed the run, giving up just 11 yards on the ground in the first quarter and the Cyclones lead 6-3 at the end of the first quarter. Iowa State scored when Steele Jantz and Aaron Horne combined for a five-yard touchdown to clinch a 10-play, 75-yard drive, giving the Cyclones the game’s first lead. Iowa State missed the extra point.

1st Quarter Recap: Michigan 7, Air Force 3

Thanks to a mean rushing attack, No. 19 Michigan leads 7-3 at the end of the first quarter. The Wolverines rushed for 100 yards in the quarter. The Wolverines got on the scoreboard first, rattling off a two-play, 80-yard drive that ended in a score when Denard Robinson took a quarterback draw all the way for a 79-yard touchdown run.

Braxton Miller leads Ohio State past Central Florida

Braxton Miller became the first Ohio State quarterback to rush for three touchdowns in 34 years and he passed for another score to lead the 14th-ranked Buckeyes to a 31-16 victory over Central Florida on Saturday. A week after setting a school quarterback record with 161 rushing yards in a 56-10 win over Miami (Ohio), Miller ran for 141 yards on 27 carries. His number kept coming up after starting running back Carlos Hyde left with a first-half knee injury.

Gray, Gophers trounce New Hampshire, 44-7

MarQueis Gray threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more by halftime, and Minnesota finally enjoyed an easy victory over an FCS-level opponent by beating New Hampshire 44-7 on Saturday. Gray passed only eight times but completed six for 100 yards and scores to Isaac Fruechte and John Rabe. Gray also gained 109 yards on 17 rushing attempts, including a 75-yard untouched burst at the end of the first quarter.

Virginia holds on, nips Penn State

Virginia’s Michael Rocco hit Jake McGee on a 6-yard touchdown pass with 1:28 to play Saturday, and Sam Ficken‘s fourth missed field goal of the game – from 42 yards at the gun – preserved the Cavaliers’ 17-16 victory over Penn State. The loss in new coach Bill O’Brien’s first road game hurt the Nittany Lions just as much, if not moreso, than their defeat last weekend at home against Ohio.
