1st quarter recap: Wisconsin 7, Purdue 7

Wisconsin’s Jacob Pedersen caught a 21-yard touchdown pass in the quarter, and the two teams are tied 7-7 at the end of the first. Purdue scored when Caleb TerBush turned a quarterback sneak into a one-yard touchdown run to finish off a two-play, 53-yard drive, giving the Boilermakers the game’s first lead. Purdue’s drive was highlighted by TerBush’s 52-yard pass.

1st quarter recap: Michigan State 7, Iowa 0

Michigan State stifled Iowa’s offense, giving up just 37 total yards in the first quarter and the Spartans lead 7-0. Michigan State held the Hawkeyes to just 15 rushing yards in the quarter. The Spartans got on the scoreboard when Le’Veon Bell turned a handoff into a 14-yard touchdown.

1st quarter recap: Northwestern 14, Minnesota 3

Northwestern ran for 79 yards in the quarter, and the Wildcats lead 14-3 at the end of the first quarter. Northwestern got on the scoreboard first, rattling off a one-play, 26-yard drive that ended in a score when Venric Mark turned a handoff into a 26-yard touchdown. The Wildcats started in good field position when Northwestern recovered a fumble.

Tip-off Before Kick-off: Byrd as 'Dirk Hunter'

Purdue basketball fans were treated to a surprise musical performance at Friday night’s Tip-off Before Kick-off. The “performer” was Dirk Hunter. Actually, it was Purdue senior D.J. Byrd, in costume, acting as a fake country artist. Byrd pulled off the alias for about four minutes before he took off his shirt and revealed a No. 21 Purdue  jersey. He then took off his cowboy hat and wig, and Purdue fans erupted when they noticed it was Byrd. Watch Byrd entertain the crowd at Mackey Arena now

Now playing: Tom Izzo is ... Iron Man

The “Midnight Madness” event at Michigan State has become an entertainment spectacle each year, and this season was no exception. For Friday night’s event, Michigan State’s coach Tom Izzo makes his latest dramatic entrance after an introduction where his daughter pleads, “This year, you cannot embarrass me.” Let’s hope she’s a fan of “The Avengers.” Watch this video to see how Izzo (with a little help) saves a kidnapped Sparty before landing in Michigan State’s arena to the dulcet tones of Black Sabbath: “I am Iron Man/ Has he lost his mind/ Can he see or is he blind/ Can he walk at all/ Or if he moves will he fall?” Well done, Michigan State.
