In the first quarter, Northern Iowa’s David Johnson stood out. He ran for 27 yards and one touchdown and caught one pass for 30 yards, and the Panthers lead 10-7 at the end of the first quarter. Northern Iowa struck first when Johnson pounded in a one-yard touchdown run, the final play of an eight-play, 83-yard drive. Sawyer Kollmorgen’s 30-yard pass to Johnson from the 24-yard line pushed the Panthers into enemy territory.

1st Quarter Recap: Penn State 14, Navy 0

Penn State’s passing attack has looked sharp over the last 15 minutes of action, with 132 yards, and the Nittany Lions lead 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. Penn State took the game’s first lead after Matt McGloin and Jesse James hooked up for a two-yard touchdown on the last play of a seven-play, 72-yard drive. The key play on the Nittany Lions’ drive was McGloin’s 45-yard pass to Allen Robinson.

Nebraska drops Arkansas State, 42-13

Nebraska coach Bo Pelini left the stadium in an ambulance at halftime of the Cornhuskers’ 42-13 victory against Arkansas State on Saturday. Taylor Martinez threw two touchdown passes to Kenny Bell for Nebraska (2-1), and Ameer Abdullah ran for a career-high 167 yards and two scores, filling in for the injured Rex Burkhead.

O'Toole, Illini roll to 44-0 victory

Reilly O’Toole threw for 333 yards and five touchdowns and receiver Ryan Lankfordhad 97 yards and two scores to lead Illinois to a 44-0 win Saturday over Charleston Southern. The Illini (2-1) were missing a handful of starters who were injured, including quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase, who has missed two games with a sprained ankle. O’Toole got the start and connected with Lankford twice in the first quarter.

3rd Quarter Recap: Minnesota 28, W. Michigan 17

In the third quarter, Alex Carder fought back for Western Michigan. He threw for 66 yards and ran for seven yards and one touchdown, but the margin is still 11, as the Broncos trail 28-17. Western Michigan finished off a 71-yard drive when Carder turned a quarterback sneak into a one-yard touchdown run to make the score 21-17.
