What bad knee? Rex Burkhead runs for long early TD

Nebraska running back Rex Burkhead returned for the first time Saturday since he hurt his left knee in the team’s season-opening win over Southern Miss. Wearing a bulky brace on the knee, Burkhead started and looked great in the early going. The senior ran for 79 yards on his first three carries, including a highlight-reel 61-yard scoring scamper. Wisconsin loses Montee Ball, takes down UTEP

James White rushed for a pair of touchdowns Saturday, helping Wisconsin overcome the early loss of Montee Ball in a 37-26 victory over UTEP. Ball suffered a head injury on a 1-yard scoring run at the start of the second quarter, and was on the sidelines in street clothes for the second half. It was a tough day all around for the Heisman Trophy finalist, who had the first fumble of his career on Wisconsin’s opening drive.
