Gardner, Michigan down Northwestern in overtime

Devin Gardner ran for a 1-yard touchdown in overtime and Michigan’s defense responded with a stop, giving the Wolverines a wild 38-31 win over Northwestern on Saturday. Trevor Siemian threw a 15-yard pass to Tony Jones with 3:59 left to give the Wildcats a 31-28 lead and Gardner threw an interception on the next snap.

1st quarter recap: Penn State 7, Nebraska 3

Penn State’s passing attack has looked sharp over the first 15 minutes of action, with 90 yards, and the Nittany Lions lead 7-3 at the end of the first quarter. Penn State’s Zach Zwinak ran for 59 yards and one touchdown in the quarter, although he did have a costly fumble in Nebraska territory.

Wisconsin runs all over Indiana, 62-14

Montee Ball ran for 198 yards and three touchdowns, James White scored on runs of 69 and 50 yards, and Wisconsin set a school rushing record Saturday with 564 yards in a 62-14 rout at Indiana. The Badgers (7-3, 4-2) will now have a chance to claim their third straight Big Ten crown after clinching a spot in the league’s title game.

Griggs kicks Purdue past Iowa, to first Big Ten win

Paul Griggs drilled a 46-yard field goal as time expired and Purdue stunned Iowa 27-24 Saturday, snapping a five-game losing streak. Robert Marve threw for 266 yards and two touchdowns for the Boilermakers (4-6, 1-5 Big Ten), who won for the first time in Iowa City in 20 years.

3rd quarter recap: Purdue 24, Iowa 21

Purdue ran it and thew it well in the third quarter, and it now leads Iowa, 24-21, entering the fourth quarter. Purdue racked up 78 passing yards and 78 rushing yards in the quarter. However, Iowa came up with the biggest play of the quarter, when Micah Hyde recovered a fumble and returned it for a score to make bring the Hawkeyes withing three points.
