Robbie Hummel

Did You See This? Purdue retires Hummel's number

One of Purdue’s favorite sons will forever be represented at Mackey Arena. At halftime of Purdue’s game Saturday night, the Boilermakers unveiled Robbie Hummel’s No. 4 jersey in the rafters. Hummel was a well-chronicled player during his decorated career in West Lafayette, both for his standout play and his unfortunate injury history. [ RELATED: Want to embed a BTN.com video? The Spartans (20-4, 9-2 Big Ten) have won three straight, nine of their last 10, four of their last five on the road in conference play and will retain at least a share of the league lead – regardless of what happens Sunday when No. 1 Indiana visits No. 10 Ohio State. Devyn Marble

Marble busts out of slump, Iowa drills Northwestern

Devyn Marble broke a lengthy slump with 21 points and Iowa beat Northwestern 71-57 on Saturday to snap a two-game losing streak. Josh Oglesby added 10 for the Hawkeyes (15-9, 4-7 Big Ten), who won for just the second time in six games. Marble, Iowa’s second-leading scorer, put together his best scoring night in nearly two months as the Hawkeyes bounced back from a double-overtime loss at Wisconsin on Wednesday. Marble entered play in a staggering spiral, with just 21 baskets on 83 tries in Big Ten play and just two points in his last two games. [ BOX |

Badgers celebrate to Ke$ha's 'Die Young' in locker room

Make it 11 consecutive victories for Wisconsin over Michigan at the Kohl Center. It’s safe to say, Saturday’s triumph is the best of the bunch. Not only did the contest go to overtime, thanks to Ben Brust’s ridiculous buzzer-beater in regulation, it ended in an upset of the third-ranked Wolverines. Naturally, a win of this caliber calls for a crazy celebration. The Badgers did their share of celebrating following the final buzzer (see photos here), but the fun also continued in the locker room. And, lucky for us, there’s footage of it. Wisconsin posted the video below on its YouTube

Jared Berggren

Did You See This? Berggren, Brust deliver highlights

Jared Berggren is compiling quite the highlight reel in his senior season. There was this second jam in a back-to-back sequence, this posterization of Victor Oladipo, and this drive and finish at Iowa, among several others. To little surprise, Berggren struck again in Saturday’s overtime win over No. 3 Michigan. Watch the And-1 dunk now and see Ben Brust‘s ridiculous OT-forcing 3-pointer at the buzzer in this post. Weekend hoops: Spartans battling in tight race

BTN/BTN2Go has two Big Ten men’s basketball games this Saturday as Northwestern plays at Iowa at 4:30 p.m. before No. 12 Michigan State plays at Purdue at 7 p.m. We spoke with Michigan State freshman Gary Harris about Saturday’s big game. Michigan State coach Tom Izzo isn’t sure where his team would be if not for the efforts of Harris, though the freshman hasn’t been the only one playing through pain as the Spartans are tied for first place in the Big Ten. The banged-up Spartans look to earn a fifth straight victory over host Purdue. “I knew it was going to be
