No. 8 Michigan State throttles No. 4 Michigan

Gary Harris scored 17 points and Derrick Nix had 14 to help No. 8 Michigan State rout No. 4 Michigan 75-52 on Tuesday night, the rivalry’s first matchup of top 10 teams. The Spartans (21-4, 10-2 Big Ten) broke a first-place tie in the conference with No. 1 Indiana. The Wolverines (21-4, 8-4) have lost three of four, but the closely contested setbacks on the road against the Hoosiers and Wisconsin were nothing like the latest. Let's get to ranking this week's games

This week is headlined by two great games, with Michigan playing at Michigan State tonight  Ohio State travelling to Wisconsin on Sunday. Today's links: All eyes on Battle of Michigan

In case you live under a rock, I am here to tell you that there’s a big, big game tonight, with No. 4 Michigan playing at No. 8 Michigan State. So, work rules dictate that I start daily links there. Spartans coach Tom Izzo is worried about Wolverine point man Trey Burke. What coach wouldn’t be? Izzo thinks Burke controls the game better than any Big Ten player in a long, long, time. Izzo also thinks the rise of Michigan is a good thing for his Spartans program. Really. He means it and said so with a straight face. Have a

Oladipo, currently at 127 field goals made, is shooting a ridiculous 64.5 percent, the highest by any guard in Big Ten history, and the highest by any player since Michigan’s Maceo Baston (68.2 percent) in 1995-96. Big Ten Whiteboard: Who's on upset alert this week?

Three of arguably the best games this season have involved Michigan: The Wolverines at Wisconsin; Ohio State at Michigan; the Wolverines at Indiana. There may be a fourth involving the Wolverines this week, as they travel to Michigan State in what is the biggest game of the week. Michigan (8-3 Big Ten) finds itself trailing Indiana (9-2) and Michigan State (9-2) in the chase for the Big Ten title—so this is an especially big game for the Wolverines, who will get a return trip from the Spartans later this season. In fact, some think it’s a must-win game for Michigan.
