Sophomore Matt Ogden pitched six innings of scoreless relief, as Michigan scored multiple runs in three different innings in an 8-1 win over Penn State Sunday afternoon at the Wilpon Complex. Ohio State swept Penn State in a three-game series, thanks to a 4-3 eighth-inning walk-off victory Sunday at Buckeye Field. Sophomore Caitlin Conrad’s sacrifice fly to center field scored Megan Coletta for the victory. With the sweep, the Buckeyes improve to 26-14 overall and 6-6 in Big Ten play, while Penn State drops to 10-26 overall and 1-10 in league action. Michigan hopes it took the first few steps toward the school’s first Big Ten championship since 2004 Saturday in the spring game. Brady Hoke’s third team has a lot of potential after coming close to winning the Legends Division in 2012. But it’s also a program in transition on the offensive side of the ball with iconic Denard Robinson no longer around.
