We’re now at the official halfway point of the conference season, so it seems an appropriate time to glance at player stats. We’ve already thrown around some Big Ten POY discussion, but we have enough data now that we can start to look a little deeper.

Five Big Ten teams are ranked in the latest Coaches Poll, released Monday. Michigan State leads the way at No. 8, while Iowa (No. 13), Michigan (No. 16), Wisconsin (No. 24) and Ohio State (No. 25) round out the Big Ten contingent. See the Coaches and AP polls in this post.
By now, we all know the past week was a crazy one on the Big Ten men’s hardwood. The upside down world that has become Big Ten basketball continued over the weekend. The latest installment of craziness was unranked Indiana’s home win over No. 10 Michigan, the last Big Ten squad unbeaten in league play. Who saw this coming? This was a Hoosiers club that had lost three of four—including a home loss to Northwestern and a loss at Nebraska–coming into the meeting yesterday. Don’t try to understand it. Just enjoy it.
The Big Ten office released its latest Big Ten Men’s Basketball Players of the Week on Monday, and three players were honored. Northwestern’s Drew Crawford and Penn State’s D.J. Newbill shared Player of the Week, while Indiana’s Noah Vonleh claimed Freshman of the Week. Read more in this post.
