Matta reaches milestone in win over Purdue

Deshaun Thomas scored 22 points to lead No. 14 Ohio State to a 74-64 victory over Purdue on Tuesday night. The angry Buckeyes (12-3, 2-1) rebounded from their first Big Ten loss by shooting 56.4 percent from the field. With the victory, Ohio State sent coach Thad Matta to his 100th Big Ten victory.

The Michigan ice hockey team dropped a 5-1 contest to Bowling Green on Tuesday night at Yost Ice Arena. The Falcons, which led 32-20 in shots in the game, carried a two-goal lead into the second period, before U-M cut it to one. Big Ten Blast: Jan. 8th Morning Edition

Alabama put the finishing touches on the 2012 season with an annihilation of Notre Dame in the BCS championship game. And, never in the history of college football has a 42-14 score been so misleading. Truth be told: It wasn’t really that close. So, that’s three BCS titles in four years for Bama, and then seven in a row for the SEC. Maybe Ohio State can put an end to this SEC dominance in the near future. Until then, let’s kick off the daily links with a gander at the final polls, which still mean something in college football.
