Dienhart: 'Best is yet to come for this program'

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Michigan is the pick of many to win the Legends Division this season. And, after watching the Wolverines practice today, I can see why. Michigan looked good, easily passing the eyeball test. The Wolverines had a hard-hitting practice in the morning, with offensive coordinator Al Borges telling me there were several scraps between players. After that hard session, the team went at it hard this afternoon, too. It’s fun to watch Brady Hoke coach. He’s a hands-on boss who loves to get into the action with the defensive line, constantly yelling and chirping the entire practice.

Mailbag: Is Ohio State a worthy Big Ten favorite?

The BTN bus is rolling through Big Ten territory, checking out training camps at each school during the Network’s annual tour. Lots to see. And, by the volume of mail, I can tell there is a lot of anticipation from fans. With that, I reach into my mail bag and answer your questions. Keep those cards and letters coming! I appreciate it. I live in Alabama but formerly am from Columbus, Ohio. Go Bucks!! I think we will make it to the title game if we can avoid injuries and the team plays like it wants to win. But I

Penn State practice

Dienhart: Penn State's Ferguson 'may be the guy'

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The BTN Football Tour took us to Penn State camp Thursday. My first thought: Bill O’Brien runs a great practice. No doubt who is in charge here, as O’Brien is a commanding presence on the field who is organized and intense. The front-line players are very nice. The depth? Meh. [ PROGRAM ALERT: Watch Penn State Preview Show at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday on BTN/BTN2Go ] As defensive coordinator John Butler told me, the team has to stay healthy.
