Gary Williams honored at Maryland/OSU game

Gary Williams may be best known for leading the Maryland Terrapins on that memorable National Championship run back in 2002, but before that, Williams served as the head coach at Ohio State from 1986-1989. During that three year span, Williams led the Buckeyes to a combined 59-41 record, including back-to-back 20-win seasons and an NCAA Tournament appearance in the 1986-87 season. Williams was honored before Wednesday’s Ohio State vs. Maryland game for his outstanding coaching contributions, one year before the Terrapins are scheduled to join Ohio State in the Big Ten conference. “He’s been one of the real leaders here

There’s a lot to like about Ohio State and its chances to beat Michigan State in the league title tilt and win the Big Ten championship. The biggest hope is a killer offense. So long 'Challenge' stickers, hello technology

Before the NCAA banned on-court stickers, Tom Izzo and several of his fellow coaches made it known they weren’t fans of them. It’s not because the stickers resulted in an eye-sore, but because they were a slipping hazard and caused injury. ESPN found another way to get the Big Ten/ACC Challenge logo on the courts during this week’s event. The network digitally inserted the “stickers” on the court. And, you wouldn’t have known the stickers were missing unless you attended one of the games. These ACC-Big Ten Challenge emblems are being inserted digitally by ESPN. Wild: — Land-Grant Holy

Q&A: Chuck Long breaks down B1G title game

Way back on August 1, I did a Q&A with Iowa legend and BTN analyst Chuck Long, asking for his views on the 2013 season. In one of my questions, I asked Long who he was picking to win the Legends Division. His selection was a bit of a surprise: Michigan State. Four months later, Long looks like a genius. Now, only 60 minutes separates Michigan State from the Big Ten championship and the conference’s automatic bid to the Rose Bowl. The Spartans, by the way, haven’t been to the Rose Bowl since the 1987 season. But Ohio State will
