If there is a theme to this Big Ten season, it would be “expect the unexpected.” Down is up … up is down … in is out … out is in. You get the idea. Each week is like a roller-coaster, as upsets seemingly have become the norm. Heck, we even had one last night, with last-place Illinois winning at Minnesota.
Ever see 10 consecutive free throws in a game? You have if you saw Ohio State’s 76-60 victory over Northwestern on Wednesday night. A scuffle with 5:24 left in the second half led to the ejections of Northwestern’s Nikola Cerina and Ohio State’s LaQuinton Ross, and after an extended delay to sort out all of the penalties, the Buckeyes shot four free throws and the Wildcats six. Watch it in the video above.
Northwestern’s Nikola Cerina has been issued a one-game suspension for throwing a punch in Wednesday night’s scuffle at Ohio State, according to Big Ten official Ray Perone. Cerina, who was thrown out of the game, along with Ohio State’s LaQuinton Ross, will sit out Saturday vs. Indiana. Ross, who was ejected for pushing Cerina and Drew Crawford, will not be suspended.
Any time Minnesota plays, there’s a pretty good chance Austin Hollins will throw down an impressive dunk. Hollins added to his long highlight reel in the first half of Wednesday night’s game vs. Illinois. Watch Hollins soar for his latest trademark right-handed powerful flush in this post.
Braxton Miller received his second consecutive Chicago Tribune Silver Football, awarded to the Big Ten’s top football player, during a timeout in the first half of Ohio State’s basketball game vs. Northwestern on Wednesday night. Miller, who will be a senior in the fall, will try to become the first three-time winner of the award in his final season. Watch the presentation in this post.
