Rose Bowl Preview: Michigan State vs. Stanford

Michigan State is making its first trip to Pasadena since the 1987 season in what will be the 100th Rose Bowl. This is a culmination of sorts for Mark Dantonio in his seven seasons in East Lansing, finally getting the Spartans to the Big Ten’s Holy Grail after some close calls. Stanford is making its fourth trip to a BCS in a row and its second journey in succession to the Rose Bowl. This has become the premier Pac-12 program under David Shaw. Who needs Jim Harbaugh? Let us know in the comment box at the bottom of the post. 10. Nebraska fans storm court in Devaney finale A win over an unranked team rarely, if ever, warrants a court storming. There’s no shame in doing it, however, when a team pulls off an unexpected win in the final game of its home gym’s history. Nebraska men’s basketball fans – a starved fanbase

Big Ten Geeks: Contenders or Pretenders?

This was a big weekend for the middle of the Big Ten. So far this season, there have been two teams that clearly look a cut above the rest—Ohio State and Wisconsin—and then there are a lot of teams that haven’t hit their upside. Many of those teams were tested this weekend, and every one of them failed. The action started on Friday, where Iowa established the theme of the weekend—get a lead, and blow it late. The Hawkeyes had a 10-point lead over a tough Cyclones team in the first half, but this was a back-and-forth affair in the

Orange Bowl Preview: Ohio State vs. Clemson

Yes, Ohio State would rather be playing in Pasadena, Calif., for the national championship vs. another ACC school, Florida State. But this is still a BCS bowl vs. a very good Clemson team. And that means it’s a chance for the Buckeyes to score some credibility points and quell critics who say OSU played a soft schedule. Since the start of 2012, the Buckeyes and Tigers rank in the top 10 in the nation in points per game and winning percentage. Combined, they’re 45-5 since the start of last season. If that doesn’t get you jacked, nothing will. This trip

Capital One Bowl Preview: Wisconsin vs. South Carolina

This is one of the better matchups of the postseason. Wisconsin—on a three-game bowl losing skid–and South Carolina—aiming for a third postseason triumph in succession–never have played, adding intrigue to this battle. Gary Andersen is looking to put his stamp on the Badger program in his first season; Steve Spurrier looks to add another brick in the wall of a strong program he has built in Columbia for a team that has wins vs. Missouri and Clemson.
