Minnesota trounces Penn State on Senior Day

Trevor Mbakwe had 13 points and 13 rebounds and Minnesota held Penn State scoreless for the first 11 minutes of the game to cruise to a 73-44 victory on Saturday. Julian Welch had 10 points and seven assists and Rodney Williams had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Golden Gophers (20-9, 8-8 Big Ten), who didn’t let the Nittany Lions spoil their Senior Day.

Video: Minnesota honors Mbakwe, seniors

Prior to Saturday’s game vs. Penn State, Minnesota honored its four seniors: Andre Ingram, Trevor Mbakwe, Julian Welch and Rodney Williams. Fittingly, it was the seniors who led the Gophers to the easy 73-44 victory over the Nittany Lions. The seniors combined to score 37 points and grab 25 rebounds, led by Mbakwe’s 13 point, 13-rebound double-double. Watch the ceremony now.
