It’s not rare to see teams slap the floor as a group as they set up on defense vs. Duke. It’s a Duke thing, after all, and teams aren’t shy about mocking the tradition when they play the Blue Devils. Who says you can’t also do it vs. former Duke products? New Northwestern coach Chris Collins played for Duke and also spent 13 seasons there as an assistant, so perhaps that’s why the Spartans all slapped the floor early in Wednesday’s game.

When Lincoln students display exceptional sportsmanship, teamwork and respect, they receive a special purple Northwestern “gotcha” from a teacher or school staff member.

January 15 is the deadline for underclassmen to declare for the NFL draft. And, the Big Ten isn’t taking too many big hits, which would seem to bode well for the conference in 2014. Just four players have declared: Indiana WR Cody Latimer; Penn State WR Allen Robinson; Ohio State CB Bradley Roby; Ohio State LB Ryan Shazier.
