Brandon Paul Q&A: 'It brings back some great memories'

It was just one year ago when Brandon Paul hit an unforgettable buzzer-beater to lift Illinois to a memorable 51-49 victory over Minnesota in the opening round of the Big Ten tournament. Paul was in attendance at Thursday’s Big Ten tourney opener between Illinois and Indiana. The former Illini star played overseas in Russia with BC Nizhny Novgorod this past season. This past month, Paul signed with the Canton Charge of the NBA D-League. He recently suffered a partially torn labrum and is scheduled to have season-ending surgery next week. I caught up with Paul at halftime and asked him

Ohio State's Evan Turner Arms Up

Ohio State invaded Evan Turner’s new home, Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Thursday for the Big Ten tournament. Turner, who was traded to the Pacers at the NBA trade deadline, and the rest of his teammates were around the arena for much of the first session Thursday. That meant the former Ohio State star and 2010 national player of the year was able to meet up with Thad Matta. Earlier today at the big ten tourney with the future legend Coach Matta! Big Ten tourney: Your team's points of emphasis

The Big Ten Tournament opens Thursday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. If this year’s Big Ten season is any indication of what’s to come this weekend, we are all in for one wild conference tournament. At this point in the year, teams have figured out both their strong points and weaknesses. And so, there isn’t a team in the Big Ten that doesn’t have some area that could be improved. With that said, I looked at each of the 12 teams and pinpointed those areas as a way of showing you what to watch for when each team takes

BTN experts discuss early signing day idea

On Tuesday’s #BTNLive show Mike Hall, Gerry DiNardo and Stanley Jackson had a length discussion examining the positives and negatives of an early signing period in college football. Right now, prospects can’t sign a letter of intent with any school until the first Wednesday in February, a day when football offices are busy and fans track every announcement. If an early signing period were to be established, high school players wouldn’t have to wait until February and could make their verbal commitments official at an earlier date. Watch DiNardo, a former coach, and Jackson, a former player, discuss the ramifications
