Michigan State videobombs Jake Boss Jr.

Videobombing has become the biggest trend during this year’s Big Ten Baseball Tournament. We have seen both silly and serious videobombs from Indiana, as well as a Minnesota player getting a fake tattoo drawn on his arm in the middle of an interview. Well, Michigan State’s videobomb in Saturday’s semifinal matchup against Indiana could be the best one yet. Between innings, BTN’s Eric Collins and Danan Hughes interviewed Michigan State head coach Jake Boss Jr., but it was the shenanigans going on behind the coach that stole the show. We saw players pretending to do some cross country skiing, a

Broken Bat

Video: Jackson Glines breaks bat on RBI single

Go to an MLB game, and you’re almost guaranteed to see at least one bat break into multiple pieces. A college game? Not so much. It happened, though, in Friday night’s Michigan-Iowa Big Ten tourney game. Making the super-rare event all the more impressive, Jackson Glines got an RBI single to center on the swing. Watch the play and see a picture of the bat in this post. Jake Yacinich

Video: Jake Yacinich's slide to steal home ... just, wow!

A steal of home is always  exciting. It’s even better when the baserunner makes a ridiculous slide to avoid the tag. We saw that happen in the nightcap of the Big Ten tourney Friday night, when Iowa’s Jake Yacinich was the lead runner on a double steal attempt. Michigan, on what looked like a designed play, threw down to second and had the shortstop cut it off and toss home. The Wolverines had Yacinich dead to rights. That’s when he decided to leave his feet and dive around the tag. I’ve watched this a dozen times, and I still can’t

Dienhart: NU's 2014 schedule analysis

Last year began amid much hope for Northwestern, which opened 4-0 with No. 4 Ohio State coming to Evanston for a prime-time national TV. Alas, Northwestern lost, 40-30, and never recovered. From there, the Wildcats lost seven in a row – including one in overtime, another in triple overtime and two other games by three points – before beating Illinois in the finale. A 5-7 mark (1-7 Big Ten) ended the team’s school-record run of five bowls in a row. The Wildcats return many key veterans and will be motivated. The offensive line must improve, while the defense needs more

Tracy Smith

Video: Tracy Smith gets revenge on Indiana players

The Indiana baseball team has made a habit of standing behind Tracy Smith during each and every one of his recent BTN in-game interviews. The videobombing has been silly and serious, you name it. Well, for Thursday night’s scheduled fifth-inning interview vs. Michigan, Smith decided to take a page out of Blake Griffin’s book. [ MORE: Catch up on all the Big Ten tourney action ] You could say Smith was prepared. He knew his players would be behind him, and he had the cup of water in his hand for a reason. “I was going to ask you guys,”
