The Big Ten is set to return a ton of talent at quarterback, but the same can’t be said at wide receiver. With names like Jared Abbrederis, Corey Brown, Quincy Enunwa, Jeremy Gallon, Cody Latimer and Allen Robinson all off to the NFL, there will be plenty of new names atop the receiving leader list. This got me thinking about the top quarterback-receiver duos in the Big Ten. Here’s my top-10 list. * I made it a point to not list the same quarterback more than once. Dienhart reacts to 2014 football preview mags

I finally have had a chance to closely check out my three favorite college football preview mags: Athlon, Lindy’s and Sporting News. It’s fun to compare and contrast the predicted order of finish in the various publications. After considering the three publications’ picks, I decided to offer some reactions. Here goes: Ohio State is the consensus pick to win the East. But, I gotta tell ya, I’m liking Michigan State. Yes, the Buckeyes have lots of talent, but the jury remains out on a defense that struggled last season in ranking No. 7 overall and No. 11 vs. the pass

Bill Cubit Q&A: 'We have a chance to be good'

As Year Three of the Tim Beckman era dawns at Illinois, progress has been slow but tangible. The Fighting Illini went 0-8 in the Big Ten in 2012; they won a conference game last season and generally were more competitive. Why? The offense improved—a lot. Credit the arrival of coordinator Bill Cubit. The Illinois attack went from being one of the worst in the nation in 2012 to ranking 46th in total offense (426.7 ypg) last year. Illinois was 61st in scoring (29.7 ppg). In 2012, Illinois ranked 119th in total offense (296.7 ypg) and 119th in scoring (16.7 ppg).
