The Hoosiers struggled in his first season, racking up a 12-20 record, but they have gone 69-26 since. Will Sheehey, Kendrick Nunn win Big Ten honors

The Big Ten office announced its Big Ten Men’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday, and there’s a first-time honoree. Indiana senior Will Sheehey won Player of the Week for the first time in his career, this after averaging 18.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in Indiana’s 2-1 week. Illinois’ Kendrick Nunn claimed Freshman of the Week for the second time in a row.

Big Ten Geeks: Senior Day Already?

Penn State celebrated an early senior night (the Nittany Lions still have another home game remaining, but I guess they didn’t like their chances against Wisconsin) by rallying from an 11-point first half deficit to take down Ohio State. PSU got a big game out of junior guard D.J. Newbill (23 points, 9 shots), who had a better game than LaQuinton Ross (19 points, 12 shots). I mention those two because, outside of them, there was not a lot of offense. Tim Frazier had 16 points, but it took 12 shots to get there and it came with 6 turnovers.

Indiana’s Yogi Ferrell and Will Sheehey, Iowa’s Aaron White and Michigan State’s Adreian Payne were named to the 2013 USA Basketball Men’s World University Games Team. The Big Ten quartet made the team after five days of training camp at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Indiana's Sheehey listed as day-to-day

(AP) Indiana forward Will Sheehey has injured his lower left leg and is listed as day-to-day. In a release issued late Wednesday night, the 17th-ranked Hoosiers said the injury occurred during practice earlier in the day. The sophomore forward has played a key role in Indiana’s resurgence. He is one of five Hoosiers scoring in double figures (10.7) and is the second-highest scoring non-starter in the Big Ten. Read the full AP story.
