This was one of the top Saturday’s of the season, as the division races came into even sharper focus. In fact, Wisconsin sewed up the Leaders Division bid to the Big Ten title game, while Nebraska remained in control of the Legends with a fourth victory in succession and is a step closer to Indianapolis. Here’s what I learned.

It was another interesting Saturday that saw Nebraska continue its hot streak in its quest to win the Legends Division. And even though Wisconsin didn’t play, it saw its competition in the Leaders Division heat up with Indiana’s win over Iowa. Here’s what I learned following another glorious day of football.

The Big Ten race continues to take shape, as nine weeks are in the books. A big story this week: Injuries at quarterback. Last week, Ohio State’s Braxton Miller left the game with a neck injury but returned to play well this Saturday. But now, Wisconsin lost Joel Stave for the season with a collarbone injury and Michigan saw Denard Robinson go down with a right elbow issue that he is supposed to rebound from next Saturday. Scary stuff. Here is what I learned this week.

Ohio State is a resilient and resourceful squad, I tell you. The way the Buckeyes rallied and stayed perfect despite losing star quarterback Braxton Miller late to what looked like a serious injury was nothing short of remarkable. Backup Kenny Guiton deserves much of the credit. What a performance in the clutch. Find out what else I learned in Week 8 in this post.

It’s safe to say, the two teams in Michigan are headed in opposite directions. And it’s happening just in time for the annual rivalry game. Fresh off a 45-0 victory over Illinois, the Wolverines are beginning to assert themselves, while the Spartans suffered their third home loss of the season. See what else I learned in Week 7 Big Ten action in this post.

And then there was one. With its impressive victory over Nebraska on Saturday, coupled with Northwestern’s loss at Penn State, Ohio State is the Big Ten’s final unbeaten team. At 6-0, the Buckeyes are cruising. Up next: at Indiana.

The opening week of Big Ten play did not disappoint, as Ohio State and Nebraska each claimed late wins over Michigan State and Wisconsin, respectively, in two of the day’s biggest games. But what did I learn from the first week of Big Ten action. See the five biggest things in this post.

Another week, another not-so pretty result for the Big Ten. The conference went 7-3, with home losses to the likes of Central Michigan and Louisiana Tech, plus Notre Dame knocked off Michigan to finish off its sweep of Big Ten opponents. But, starting next week, it’s time for Big Ten play.

A week after suffering through the conference’s first six-loss non-conference week since 2000, the Big Ten bounced back with an 10-2 clip in Week 3 action. The victories included wins over BCS foes Cal and Boston College, one week after the Big Ten went 1-6 versus such foes. Northwestern, for the third consecutive week, notched a win over a BCS team.

Week 2 is in the books. It was not a great showing for the Big Ten, as it put up a 6-6 record. This from a conference that went 10-2 during the opening week. The competition was stiffer and there were more road tests, for sure, but the Big Ten needs to bounce back next week.

Week 1 is in the books. The Big Ten compiled a 10-2 record on the opening weekend, with Michigan and Penn State suffering the lone hiccups. But what did I learn from the first week of action? As I will do every Sunday morning during the college football season, I share the five things I learned from that week’s games. I learned a lot from Week 1, none bigger than Michigan and Brady Hoke have some work to do. See all five things in this post.

An interesting Saturday saw champions crowned in each division and one team clinch a spot in the inaugural Big Ten title game. Northwestern also became bowl eligible for a school-record fifth season in a row. But what else did I learn this weekend?

The races in each division came into sharper focus on Saturday with some big individual performances, headlined by Wisconsin’s Montee Ball setting the Big Ten single-season touchdown record. Michigan State’s domination of Iowa makes the Spartans the clear leader in the Legends as the only team still in control of its destiny. In the Leaders, Penn State and Wisconsin control their destiny, but each seems to be going in opposite directions (see the Big Ten standings). See what Tom learned this weekend in this post.
