Latest Victor Oladipo News

For this year’s NCAA tourney preview edition, Sports Illustrated is producing four regional covers. One of the covers features a Big Ten star. It’s Indiana junior Victor Oladipo. See the cover in this post. SI is doing something pretty cool with this year’s regional covers, too, in that it’s allowing every student featured on the covers to tag themselves in it. Yes, Oladipo’s already done it. The three other covers feature Gonzaga (Kelly Olynyk), Kansas (Ben McLemore) and Syracuse (Michael Carter-Williams). Oladipo and Indiana open up NCAA action at 4:10 p.m. ET Friday. There was also this from SI today:

Did You See This? Oladipo goes for late 360 slam

Victor Oladipo was having a pedestrian day, all things considered, before he loudly announced his presence with a fastbreak 360 slam in the waning moments of Indiana’s win over Illinois in the Big Ten tourney quarterfinals Friday afternoon. Despite finishing the game with a double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds), the junior star struggled early and wasn’t much of a factor until the second half. And then, came the dunk. Watch it here and see some of the Twitter reaction to it in this post. [ RELATED: Want to embed BTN.com video? Here’s how! ] No. 1 seed Indiana will play the winner of the

In defense of Oladipo as Big Ten Player of the Year

There is no wrong choice for Big Ten Player of the Year this season. Trey Burke. Victor Oladipo. Deshaun Thomas. I’m not going to argue against any of those names. Having said that, Oladipo is my selection – even though Burke took home the honor. Why Oladipo? Easy: He was the best player on the best team and the best all-around player in the league. Also, he helped lead the Hoosiers to their first outright Big Ten crown since 1993. Yes, this is the player of the year, not the most valuable player, but eight of the last 13 winners

Does Oladipo score enough to win Big Ten POY?

Last week, my colleague Tom Dienhart and I debated the frontrunner for Big Ten Player of the Year. Hours after leading No. 1 Indiana over No. 5 Michigan State, Victor Oladipo was my selection. Not only does the guy do it all, he does it for the Big Ten’s best team. My only question is: Does he score enough? Right or wrong, scoring often is what decides who brings home the hardware. At 14 points per game, it’s not like Oladipo struggles to put the ball in the basket. That said, there are seven Big Ten players who average more

Big Ten links: Could IU's Oladipo go No. 1 overall?

Self-important, fast-talking, arm-waving weather people who predicted a massive Midwest snow storm yesterday called “Winter Storm Q”? Over-hyped. Indiana hoops? Not over-hyped. That’s why the Hoosiers get the lead in my daily links. Michigan guard Trey Burke agrees with me on the formidable Hoosiers. In fact, he says Indiana is the best team the Wolverines have played this season, and another expert says Victor Oladipo’s NBA stock is rising. I think most every team that played Indiana would say that, right? Frankly, I wonder how Indiana has lost any games this season. The losses: In overtime to Butler on a

Debate It: Is Burke or Oladipo Big Ten POY?

As we near the stretch run of the Big Ten schedule, there are plenty of races to keep an eye on. The most intriguing one, other than the Big Ten title race, is the battle for Big Ten Player of the Year. Will it be the season-long frontrunner Trey Burke? Or the quickly surging Victor Oladipo? BTN.com’s Tom Dienhart and Brent Yarina debate the topic in this post. Big Ten Geeks: Say Hello to your champs

Indiana pulled out a huge road win over Michigan State, thanks largely to the all-around heroics of Victor Oladipo. The surging national player of the year contender made things happen all over the court. On the offensive end, Oladipo was about as efficient as it gets, attacking the tin (he went six for seven on dunks and layups, ridiculous numbers for a guard) while turning it over only once. Did You See This? Oladipo gets fancy & dunks

It’s a move players think of doing quite a bit, but it’s one they rarely attempt in a game situation. Unless your name is Victor Oladipo, apparently. In Tuesday’s 72-68 victory at No. 5 Michigan State, the exciting junior threw the inbound pass off Matt Costello’s backside, and it worked to perfection. In typical Oladipo fashion, he turned the inbound pass into a quick, powerful slam. Watch the play here. Here are some tweets about Oladipo’s inbound play: How brilliant is Victor Oladipo?! #Hoosiers — Tom Dienhart (@BTNTomDienhart) February 20, 2013 Loved the Oladipo dunk off the inbounds-off-the-back. Video: Watch our Victor Oladipo dunk montage

On our “Tip-Off Show” leading up to No. 1 Indiana’s victory over Nebraska on Wednesday, we aired a Victor Oladipo dunk montage. We’ve done this a couple times this season, already featuring Sam Thompson and Rodney Williams. Like those two highlight packages, this one doesn’t disappoint. Watch the Oladipo dunk reel right here. And we’re thrilled to see it even includes the ridiculous missed alley-oop against Michigan, which would have been the dunk of the year. There isn’t a player in the nation who’s improved
