Wisconsin Rallies past Illinois, 28-17

(AP) Montee Ball rushed for 224 yards and Wisconsin forced four turnovers in a 28-17 comeback win against Illinois on Saturday. The slumping Illini jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the second quarter and carried a 17-7 advantage into halftime. But Ball had a 5-yard TD run after Wisconsin recovered a fumble, pulling the Badgers within three early in the third quarter. The Badgers kept up the pressure, grabbing the lead for good on quarterback Russell Wilson‘s 1-yard TD run that made it 21-17. Wilson’s team only had to go 44 yards for the go-ahead score after a 74-yard punt buried the Illini at their own 3. Donovonn Young rushed for two TDs for Illinois. Robinson, Michigan Blow Out Nebraska

(AP) Denard Robinson threw two touchdown passes and ran for two scores to help No. 20 Michigan rout No. 17 Nebraska 45-17 Saturday. The Wolverines (9-2, 5-2 Big Ten) moved into second place in the conference’s Legends Division and kept its chances of playing in a BCS bowl for the first time since the 2006 season. The Cornhuskers (8-3, 4-3) lost any hope of playing in the Big Ten’s first title game. Michigan State clinched its spot in the Dec. 3 game in Indianapolis with a win over Indiana and Michigan’s victory against Nebraska. Sparty Drills Indiana, Wins Legends Division

(AP) Kirk Cousins threw for 273 yards and three touchdowns in just over a half as No. 12 Michigan State moved a step closer to the Big Ten championship game with a 55-3 rout of Indiana on Saturday. The Spartans entered the game with a one-game lead over both Nebraska and Michigan, who were playing at the same time in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines were leading in the fourth quarter, which would lock Michigan State (9-2, 6-1 Big Ten) into the conference’s first championship game because of its 28-14 win over Michigan on Oct. 15. NU Tops Minnesota, Becomes Bowl Eligible

(AP) Dan Persa threw for 216 yards and two touchdowns, and Northwestern won its fourth straight, beating Minnesota 28-13 on Saturday. Venric Mark came through with two big kickoff returns as the Wildcats (6-5, 3-4 Big Ten) scored touchdowns on their first three possessions to build a 21-7 lead. That set the tone as Northwestern became eligible for its fourth straight bowl appearance. The Wildcats lost five in a row after winning their first two and appeared to be going nowhere, but they turned it around in a big way with lopsided wins over Indiana and Rice sandwiched around a tight stunner at Nebraska. McNutt, Iowa Hold off Purdue, 31-21

(AP) James Vandenberg threw three touchdown passes, including two to Marvin McNutt, to help Iowa defeat Purdue 31-21 on Saturday for the Hawkeyes’ first road win of the season. Vandenberg passed for 273 yards, and McNutt caught nine passes for 151 yards. Marcus Coker rushed for 139 yards on 30 carries for the Hawkeyes (7-4, 4-3 Big Ten), who had lost their three road games by a combined 14 points. The Hawkeyes outgained the Boilermakers 408 yards to 286 but struggled to put away scrappy Purdue. Ball, Badgers Torch Rival Gophers

(AP) Montee Ball broke the Big Ten’s single-season touchdown record and 16th-ranked Wisconsin trampled Minnesota 42-13 to keep Paul Bunyan’s Axe for the eighth straight year – and stay in the conference title chase. Russell Wilson had a season-high four touchdown passes. He was on target with every throw and every decision, connecting on all but his last throw, a deep ball that Nick Toon had in his hands but let trickle out as he hit the turf hard midway through the third quarter. Toon, who finished with eight catches for 100 yards and two scores, was shaken up on that play. Wilson went 16 for 17 for 178 yards. In just 10 games, Ball has 27 total touchdowns. Toussaint Runs Michigan past Illinois

(AP) Fitzgerald Toussaint ran for 192 yards and a touchdown and backup quarterback Devin Gardner threw a key TD pass to lead No. 22 Michigan past Illinois 31-14 on Saturday. Denard Robinson didn’t play after a big third-quarter hit. Details about his injury weren’t available. In relief Gardner hit Martavious Odoms for a fourth quarter touchdown that gave Michigan (8-2, 4-2 Big Ten) a 24-7 lead after Illinois scored. The Illini (6-4, 2-4) finished with 214 yards of offense but had just 30 at halftime. For the fourth week in a row they didn’t score in the first half and they’ve lost four straight. Nebraska Fends Off Penn State, 17-14

(AP) Capping the worst week in school history, No. 12 Penn State nearly overcame a 17-point deficit but was stopped short on a 4th-and-1 late in a 17-14 loss Saturday to No. 19 Nebraska. The outcome was secondary in Happy Valley. A tumultuous week that began with the arrest of former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky on shocking child sexual abuse charges ended Saturday with Penn State losing in its first game in 46 years without coach Joe Paterno, who was fired Wednesday. Rex Burkhead ran for 121 yards and a touchdown before the Nittany Lions scored 14 unanswered behind two second-half touchdown runs by Stephfon Green. Purdue Upsets Ohio State in Overtime

(AP) Robert Marve‘s 1-yard touchdown on a quarterback sneak in overtime gave Purdue a 26-23 win over Ohio State on Saturday. Ohio State (6-4, 3-3 Big Ten) took the ball first in overtime, and Drew Basil‘s 33-yard field goal gave the Buckeyes a 23-20 lead. Marve completed a 14-yard pass to Gary Bush on third-and-12 from the 15, then scored the game-winner on the next play. Ohio State drove down the field trailing 20-14 in the final minutes. On a fourth-and-3 from the Purdue 13, Braxton Miller scrambled and found Jordan Hall behind the secondary for a touchdown to tie the game, but Purdue’s Bruce Gaston blocked Basil’s extra point try. Michigan State Cards Rare Win at Kinnick

(AP) Kirk Cousins threw for 260 yards and three touchdowns and 13th-ranked Michigan State beat Iowa 37-21 to take control of the Big Ten’s Legends Division. B.J. Cunningham caught a pair of TD passes for the Spartans, who snapped a seven-game losing streak at Iowa dating back to 1989. Michigan State (8-2, 5-1 Big Ten) took a commanding 31-7 lead with two touchdowns in a 36-second stretch late in the second quarter. Cunningham followed Le’Veon Bell‘s 25-yard TD run with a 22-yard touchdown catch to put Michigan State up by 24 at the break. The Spartans can now earn a spot in the Big Ten title game with wins over Indiana and Northwestern in the next two weeks. Persa, Wildcats Drop Rice, 28-6

(AP) Dan Persa threw for a career-high 372 yards, Jeremy Ebert set a personal best with 208 receiving yards and Northwestern beat Rice 28-6 on Saturday. Persa also matched a career high with four touchdown passes, none more spectacular than a 90-yarder to Ebert in the first quarter. It was the second-longest completion in school history, and it set the tone as the Wildcats built a 21-0 halftime lead on the way to their third straight victory. Northwestern Upsets Nebraska, 28-25

(AP) Second-string quarterback Kain Colter ran for two touchdowns and passed for another to lead Northwestern to a 28-25 upset of No. 9 Nebraska on Saturday. Filling in for injured starter Dan Persa in the second half, Colter scored from the 1 with 1:34 left to finish a 13-play, 66-yard drive that chewed more than 7 minutes off the clock after the Cornhuskers had pulled to 21-18. Taylor Martinez passed for 289 yards and two scores for Nebraska (7-2, 3-2 Big Ten). Persa injured his left shoulder in the second quarter when he was slammed to the ground by Eric Martin. Badgers Bounce Back, Blast Boilers

(AP) Montee Ball rushed for a career-high 223 yards with three touchdowns and Wisconsin rebounded from back-to-back losses with a 62-17 rout of Purdue on Saturday. Russell Wilson threw two touchdowns and scored on a scramble for the Badgers (7-2, 3-2 Big Ten). The lopsided victory was a boost to the Badgers after their late collapses at Michigan State and Ohio State the past two weeks. Raheem Mostert had five kickoff returns for 206 yards for the Boilermakers (4-5, 2-3). Wilson was 15 of 20 for 205 yards, and had 76 yards rushing for the Badgers before coach Bret Bielema rested him early in the fourth quarter. Iowa Makes It 3 in a Row Over Michigan

(AP) Marcus Coker ran for 132 yards and a pair of touchdown and Iowa held off a late Michigan rally to beat the 13th-ranked Wolverines 24-16 on Saturday. James Vandenberg added 171 yards passing and a TD for the Hawkeyes (6-3, 3-2 Big Ten), who’ve won three straight over Michigan for the first time in school history. Michigan drove to Iowa’s 3-yard line with 16 seconds left. But Denard Robinson missed on four straight throws, with Iowa’s B.J. Lowery breaking up Robinson’s final toss to seal the win. Ohio State Runs over Indiana, 34-20

 (AP) Braxton Miller ran for two scores including a record 81-yarder and Travis Howard ended Indiana’s last chance at tying it with an interception, leading Ohio State to a 34-20 victory on Saturday. The victory was the third in a row for the Buckeyes (6-3, 3-2 Big Ten), but it didn’t come easy. Three Buckeyes topped 100 yards rushing: Dan Herron with 141 yards on 14 carries, Carlos Hyde with 105 on 15 and Miller with 105 on 14. It was the first time Ohio State had three runners go over 100 since Scottie Graham, Carlos Snow and Dante Lee did it in 1989 against Northwestern.
