Big Ten basketball fans should love Mike DeCourcy’s recently released preseason top 25. The Sporting News scribe and BTN contributor placed six Big Ten teams in his poll, including four in the top 15. In other words, DeCourcy has half the Big Ten among his top 25 teams.

Dienhart: Ranking the non-con wins halfway through

We are halfway through the non-conference season. Can you believe it? And, so far, so good for the Big Ten, which has gone 21-3. The losses: Purdue at Cincinnati, 42-7; Iowa to Northern Illinois, 30-27; Indiana to Navy, 41-35. None of those are shameful. And there have been some impressive wins.

The highly respected Phil Steele released his 2013 Initial Power Ratings on Friday, and the list is certain to get the attention of Big Ten fans.
