Last week, “Big Ten Football Report” compiled a Denard Robinson highlight package; this week, it was Montee Ball’s turn. And just like Robinson’s video, Ball’s 2012 piece does not disappoint. It should come as no surprise, though, as the 2012 Doak Walker Award winner ripped off his share of individual highlights this season on his way to becoming the NCAA career touchdown leader. Watch the video now.
The finalists for the 2012 Heisman Trophy were announced Monday night, and there are a couple surprises: 1. The list includes only three players; and 2. neither Braxton Miller nor Montee Ball received an invite. No. 1 is the real shocker, however, considering there have been five finalists two of the past three years. The last time there were three: 2008. Here’s the list of worthy finalists: Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel, Kansas State’s Collin Klein and Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o. Did Miller or Ball deserve an invite? Sure. Ahead of the show we’ve posted two highlight reels, one from Ohio State vs. Wiscosnin and the other from Iowa vs. Michigan. As part of our ongoing coverage of the various Senior Day celebrations our crew tracked Ball and Michigan’s Denard Robinson. Some straw polls have Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel on top in the Heisman hunt. Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o, Kansas State’s Collin Klein and USC’s Marqise Lee also remain viable. The Big Ten’s biggest beneficiary to the upsets last week is Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller. And he can enhance his resume with a big effort in a win vs. Michigan on Saturday.
