Latest Michigan State's Best News

Best of Gus: Spartans at Wildcats

Gus Johnson got the assignment to call Michigan State at Northwestern with BTN’s Jim Jackson on Saturday and it didn’t take him long to dial up the volume. We clip and post Johnson’s best calls for each game he works this season and archive them here during games, so bookmark the page and come back all season right up through the Big Ten tourney. Davide Curletti’s dunk brought kudos from Gus Johnson. Gus Johnson: “Marcotullio. Pure.” John Shurna drain a deep three-pointer to end the first half. Northwestern goes ahead. Gus Johnson takes it up a notch. This Michigan State

Did You See This? Michigan State's Green

Michigan State senior captain Draymond Green doesn’t do a lot of his work high above the rim. No, most of Green’s damage on the offensive end is done with jumpers and inside post moves. That wasn’t the case late in the first half of Michigan State’s game against Iowa on Tuesday night, however. With just under three minutes remaining before halftime, Green ran the floor and got high up to connect with Brandan Kearney on a terrific alley-oop. Watch the alley-oop now and be sure to check out Green’s face on the way back down the floor. AP: Michigan State

Did You See This? Wisconsin's 3 waved off

In case you missed it, there was a thrilling and – depending on your allegiance – controversial finish to the Michigan State-Wisconsin men’s hoops game Tuesday night. Trailing by three in overtime, Ryan Evans banked in what looked like a game-tying 3-pointer just as the buzzer sounded. The officials reviewed the call for nearly five minutes, and they eventually waved the basket off, giving Michigan State the 63-60 victory. Watch the shot and all of its replays now. In the end, the bucket was negated because there were two different clocks in the Kohl Center, one on the backboard and

Did You See This? Michigan State's Appling

Tim Hardaway’s son may star in Ann Arbor, but there’s a point guard in East Lansing who can cross it over well enough to make the elder Hardaway smile. Michigan State’ Keith Appling showed off his killer crossover in Tuesday’s thrilling victory at Wisconsin, and he didn’t need the usually required two hands, either. Appling used his left hand only to break ankles and drop jaws – although some people will argue it was a travel. To make the crossover even better, Appling parlayed the move into a driving layup. Watch the move and bucket now. AP: Michigan State nips

Did You See This? Michigan State's Appling

Michigan State sophomore Keith Appling compiled the greatest game of his young career Wednesday night, tallying a career-high 25 points, six rebounds and seven assists in No. 17 Michigan State’s 80-65 victory over previously undefeated No. 15 Indiana. In addition to the across-the-board excellence, Appling had a couple highlight-reel plays. Watch the guard finish a ridiculous, off-balance and-1 now and check out his emphatic block in this post. And here’s Appling’s impressive block: AP: Appling, Michigan State take down Indiana

Did You See This? Michigan State's Dawson

Like big dunks? You’re in luck, because Michigan State’s Branden Dawson got up and threw one down with authority during Monday night’s game against UMKC at the Breslin Center. The freshman, you could say, wasn’t all that intimated by Kangaroos big man Brad Reid, all 6-foot-11 of him. No, instead Dawson posterized the poor guy. Watch the athletic freshman’s powerful dunk now. AP: Michigan State flattens UMKC

Did You See This? Michigan State's Trice

Michigan State freshman Travis Trice knows a golden opportunity when he sees one. In Saturday night’s game against Bowling Green at the Breslin Center, Trice proved exactly that when 5-foot-6 BGSU guard Jordon Crawford appeared to have an easy breakaway layup. Trice, of course, had other ideas. He trailed Crawford, closed the gap at the last second and emphatically swatted the would-be layup from behind. To make the play even better, BGSU grabbed the rebound, only to have the ensuing putback blocked by Brandon Wood. Typical Tom Izzo defense. Watch the block now. Track the Bowling Green-Michigan State game.

Did You See This? Kirk Cousins' Speech

In case you haven’t gotten a chance to watch the speech that Michigan State QB Kirk Cousins gave at the Media Day Luncheon, here you go.

Did You See This? Gerard Butler

In 2010 and coming off the success of the movie “300,” actor Gerard Butler showed up at Michigan State’s Midnight Madness to rally the Spartan faithful with Tom Izzo.
