Kirk Ferentz is a happy man. Yes, he has a revamped staff around him entering the 2012 season, but he also has all three of his sons in the same city for the first time since 2005. Another first: every Ferentz boy is an official member of the Iowa program. The oldest son, Brian, returned to Iowa City this past offseason as the offensive line coach; the middle son, James, is back for his senior season; and the youngest, Steven, is a freshman tight end. See a picture of the Ferentz family in this post. On top of the family […]

Tuesday night on “Big Ten Football Report,” Dave Revsine sat down with Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz. For the first time in Ferentz’s 14 years at Iowa, his staff encountered its share of change, including a new offensive coordinator (Greg Davis) and defensive coordinator (Phil Parker). Also, Ferentz’s son, Brian Ferentz, was tabbed to coach the offensive line, among other changes. See the new-look Hawkeyes’ spring practice at noon ET on BTN.com. Until then, watch our interview with Ferentz.
Who is the longest-tenured coach at his Big Ten school? It’s Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz, who is entering his 14th season in Iowa City. And as he embarks on another spring practice, he faces a unique set of challenges he never before has encountered. Chief among the challenges is developing chemistry on a coaching staff that long has been a beacon of stability but has been shaken up like never before on Ferentz’s watch. On top of the staff overhaul, Ferentz also has some key personnel issues to deal with this spring. I caught up with the Iowa coach this week […]
