Irvin, Robinson lead Michigan to upset win over No. 3 Maryland

Michigan needed a signature victory to provide a boost to its resume this season. [ MORE: Top highlights from Tuesday’s Big Ten basketball games ] The Wolverines got just that on Tuesday night. Zak Irvin scored 22 points as Michigan notched an impressive 70-67 upset victory over No. 3 Maryland. The victory snapped Maryland’s nine-game win streak and gave the Wolverines their third Big Ten victory this season. Duncan Robinson added 17 points and Michigan held Maryland’s backcourt duo of Rasheed Sulaimon and Melo Trimble to just 10 points on 4-of-17 shooting. Check out the full highlight from the game

Six Big Ten men’s basketball teams were in action on Wednesday night, highlighted by two games on BTN. Caris LeVert had 19 points and eight assists and Zak Irvin added 16 points as Michigan finished its non-conference schedule with a 96-60 rout of Bryant in the first game of the evening. Nigel Hayes scored 24 points and interim head coach Greg Gard picked up his first career win as Wisconsin topped Green Bay, 84-79. We had a loaded slate of men’s basketball games on Tuesday as seven Big Ten teams were in action. Michigan State followed with a 99-93 win over Oakland in overtime. With the victory, the Spartans improve to 13-0, which marks the best start in program history.
