It’s early, what with 11 of the Big Ten’s 12 teams only playing one game at the time this post was published. But it’s Monday, the day I release my weekly hoops player rankings. The season’s first installment features one new name from my preseason list. That name is Tim Hardaway Jr., the conference’s Big Ten Player of the Week. See who fills out the entire top 10 in this post.

Entering the final week of the season, Draymond Green’s reign as the Big Ten’s top player isn’t threatened as he’s on course to take home the league’s Player of the Year honors (announced next Monday). Why not? Green is the lone player who averages a double-double. And his leadership is off the charts, as Green already has led the Spartans to a share of the Big Ten title.
With his play in recent weeks, Michigan State’s Draymond Green has solidified his hold on the top spot in my weekly player rankings. The senior is a do-it-all talent who’s driven to leave campus standing side-by-side with players like Mateen Cleaves and Magic Johnson as an all-time great en route to leading the Spartans to a Big Ten title and spot in the Final Four. I am not gonna bet against him.
Ohio State’s Jared Sullinger or Michigan State’s Draymond Green? Who is the best player? It may be neither. Perhaps it’s Wisconsin’s Jordan Taylor or Indiana’s Cody Zeller. And how does it compare to my list from last week?
Jared Sullinger, Draymond Green. Draymond Green, Jared Sullinger. The player on top of my weekly player rankings seemingly changes each week. And it may continue to flip-flop the rest of the month, too. For now, I have to go with Sullinger, given his sterling effort in Ohio State’s first win at Wisconsin since 2000 and the fact Green hurt his knee in a loss at Illinois.
