Did You See This? A first pitch to remember

Zach Mezger is not your typical Indiana baseball fan. The Bloomington High School North student is known as the “No. 1 IU baseball fan,” is a close friend with head coach Tracy Smith’s family, and has delivered a couple postgame speeches. Sunday, he had the honor of throwing out the first pitch in the Hoosiers’ inaugural home finale at Bart Kaufman Field.

Saturday’s catch of the day: Mueller or Edwards?

Saturday’s Big Ten softball tournament semifinals featured a pair of highlight catches. The first one came in the first game, when Wisconsin third baseman Michelle Mueller battled the sun, wind and fence down the left-field line to make the grab; the second one happened in the second game, when Nebraska catcher Taylor Edwards went to her knees to record the out near the backstop. Twitter: Fun Big Ten end zone design ideas

Pictured above is Wyoming’s new football field. It’s pretty sweet, isn’t it? The illustrations of the state’s Teton Mountains in both end zones is the headliner. Wyoming’s decision to include the iconic mountains in the end zones got me thinking: What thing synonymous with Big Ten towns/cities would be cool additions to Big Ten end zones? I asked the question on Twitter, and Big Ten fans responded.

Obama delivers commencement speech at Ohio State

Weather has pounded much of the Midwest lately, and it’s impacted plenty of Big Ten sporting event schedules. Did You See This? Another Nik Stauskas trey fest

Nik Stauskas promised it on Twitter. On Wednesday, he delivered the goods. The Michigan guard put on another remarkable shooting exhibition (watch earlier one) on his outdoor court and posted the proof on YouTube. Once again, the sharpshooter drained trey after trey despite bad weather conditions. This time, Stauskas traded the cold for rain.

Did You See This? Zeller to NBA hits young fan hard

Indiana fans are going to miss Cody Zeller, the man they affectionately referred to as “The Big Handsome.” Zeller’s decision to forgo his final two seasons in Bloomington surely brought a tear to many an eye. Perhaps no one took the news harder than this very young Zeller fan.

Video: Watch Cammi Prantl’s diving catch

Cammi Prantl had one of those catches players practice and hope to make when the lights are on in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader vs. Michigan State. With one out in the sixth inning of a 1-1 game, McKinzie Freimuth smacked a tailing liner down the left-field line. Innocent foul ball, right? Nope, Prantl, who had Freimuth positioned perfectly, read the ball off the bat and dove to make a terrific diving grab. Watch the play here.
