Former Fab Five member Juwan Howard played a total of three minutes through the first three games of Miami’s Eastern Conference semifinal series against Indiana. The Wolverine product made his biggest contribution of the series prior to Game 4 on Sunday, when he confronted Indiana’s Lance Stephenson during shootaround. The two needed to be separated. Watch the video of Howard confronting Stephenson.
Former Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson and other NFL rookies had a Topps photo shoot Saturday. Naturally, in the world we live in today, he tweeted photos from the shoot. Thanks, Russell. Get your first look at Wilson in the much-talked about new Seattle Seahawks uniform in this post.
Nick Mangold is an entertainer, no doubt about it. If you follow the former Ohio State center on Twitter (@nickmangold), you know this all too well. Mangold took his likable ways to another level on Tuesday night’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. If you missed it, let’s just say his upper body is a lot smoother. That’s right, Mangold had his chest waxed on national tv during a skit called “Wax On, Wax Off.” It looked painful — nothing an NFL player can’t handle, though — and, wow, was it funny. The Big Ten softball regular season comes to a close this weekend and Michigan is one of six Big Ten softball teams playing part of BTN’s softball triple-header tonight: Ohio State at Penn State, 4 p.m. ET; Purdue at Michigan, 6 p.m.; Iowa at Minnesota, 8 p.m. Full TV schedule here. Here’s a fun video from our colleagues at MGoBlue.com. So this week Michigan coach Carol Hutchins wanted to take a bit of pressure off her team by throwing batting practice using fruits and vegetables. It’s smash time!
One draft expert, ESPN’s Todd McShay, fell in love with Mike Martin before the 2012 NFL Draft. Apparently, the Tennessee Titans were fond of him, too. Tennessee selected the former Michigan defensive tackle in the third round of last week’s draft. Martin’s YouTube account, GoMikeMartin, chronicled the defensive tackle’s draft party, and it includes its share of raw emotion. Watch the video now and see more all-access draft videos in this post.
Sunday’s series finale between the Nebraska baseball team and Cal State Bakersfield was canceled following a long delay. But that doesn’t mean the teams didn’t face off. No, instead of competing inside the lines, the Huskers and Roadrunners used the space between their respective dugout and baseline to host a dance-off and trade creative improvisations. Watch the highly entertaining video in this post.
Bill O’Brien is trying to put his fingerprint on the Penn State football program. With that in mind, the first-year coach made sure his players received a new weight room. They did, and the place is nice and modern, which hasn’t always been the case at Penn State. Whereas machines littered the weight room during Joe Paterno’s regime, free weights and high tech equipment are the new thing at the Lasch Football Building. Watch a GOPSUTV YouTube tour of the new weight room in this post.

If you’re a Michigan State or Wisconsin fan and you didn’t see Saturday night’s “Big Ten Tonight: Spring Football Report,” you missed the show’s dramatic intro. With the Spartans and Badgers wrapping up Big Ten spring action Saturday, BTN producers compiled an impressive montage that spotlighted the teams’ unforgettable 2011 meetings. From the last-second “Rocket” play in East Lansing, Mich., during the regular season to the memorable inaugural Big Ten Football Championship Game, both games are well represented. See video from Michigan State and Wisconsin’s spring games in this post.
Spring games are great because they give fans a glimpse into what their teams will look like in the fall. But, lets face it, the games lack the excitement and entertainment of a real game. Saturday’s Michigan State game had a moment of great entertainment, though. Mark Dantonio made sure of it, as he put Sparty, Michigan State’s chiseled mascot, in the backfield and dialed up a running play. Let’s just say no one will confuse Sparty with Le’Veon Bell, because the mascot struggled on the play, losing yards and putting the ball on the ground. To be fair, the defense was offside. Either way, it was a priceless moment.
