There aren’t many college basketball players hotter than Iowa’s Devyn Marble. Louisville’s Russ Smith, maybe? Michigan fans, no doubt, will throw Trey Burke‘s name into the discussion. Fact is, Marble has been on a head-turning hot streak during Iowa’s run to its first NIT title game. In four games, the junior guard is shooting 49 percent and averaging 24.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 2.5 steals, 0.5 blocks and 1.8 turnovers. Not bad, huh? Almost forgot, he boasts an impressive 2.7 assist-to-turnover ratio, to boot. You name it, Marble has done it to lift the Hawkeyes past the likes of […]

It’s heat-check time, and Iowa junior Devyn Marble keeps hitting. The guard, fresh off a 30-point effort Saturday, hit 6-of-8 3-pointers on his way to scoring 27 points in Wednesday’s 90-46 victory over South Carolina State. If it weren’t for the lopsided score, Marble, who sat much of the second half, probably would have tallied his first back-to-back 30-point games. Either way, Marble’s night was remarkable. Watch all six of Marble’s treys now. Add it all up, and Marble’s drained 10 3-pointers the last two games, shooting it at a 59-percent clip. The craziest part: Marble hit all of 22 […]

Some fashion trends are difficult to understand. Like the glasses-wearing fad sweeping the basketball nation. Throughout the NBA playoffs, superstars like LeBron James and Russell Westbrook donned rims — often without lenses — to the postgame press conference. So, of course, others are following suit, including Iowa guard Devyn Marble. See Marble’s glasses in a HawkeyeInsider YouTube video in this post. Think Marble had fun with the look? It’s almost impossible to miss the smile on his face when he either placed the rims on or adjusted them right before the interview started. Nothing wrong with having a little fun. A few more plays like the one White made in Wednesday’s win against Minnesota, and his name will be up there with Zeller and Burke.
It’s another light week for college basketball with many students enduring finals, and the Big Ten is no different. Still, we got a few interesting games last night that are worth discussing, plus the quiet period provides us a nice chance to catch up on some individual player stats. Let’s jump right in. Minnesota continues to impress without Trevor Mbakwe, as it handled Central Michigan by 20 points. The Gophers are now 5-0 since the ill-fated Dayton game, but that in itself isn’t much of a story–after all, they’ve only faced one decent team in that stretch. Instead, let’s take a […]
