BTN LiveBIG: NUDM celebrates 40 years

On Monday, March 3, the Northwestern University Dance Marathon (NUDM) hosted their annual student-athlete talent show to benefit their causes. On hand to serve as celebrity judges for the event were Northwestern alumni Michael Wilbon from ESPN and Oakland Raiders linebacker Nick Roach. What if you wanted to support a dance marathon but you can’t dance?  It turns out that there are plenty of ways to raise money without taking a turn on the dance floor, if you are part of Northwestern University’s Dance Marathon. NU’s Dance Marathon (NUDM) co-chair, senior Josh Parish, is personally preparing to dance for a fourth time. In past years, he witnessed athletes come into the tent to pump-up dancers and help serve meals, but not dance. BTN LiveBIG: Indiana Dance Marathon breaks record

A mere 36 hours after Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” appropriately opened the 2013 Indiana University Dance Marathon (IUDM), the 23rd annual fundraiser concluded with a record-breaking celebration. From 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19, more than 3,000 students who had spent a year planning and fundraising danced. And danced. And danced some more. The exhausting efforts – in the months prior to the event and on the dance floor – raised an impressive $2,622,123.21 to benefit Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
