Often times, sports fans need a lot of time to adapt to any sudden uniform or logo changes their favorite teams make. We’re seeing proof of that with Monday’s release of Ohio State’s new athletic logo. See the new logo in this post.

No. 10 Ohio State won’t be the only team sporting a new look for Tuesday night’s rivalry game at No. 3 Michigan. On Monday, the Wolverines announced they will debut an adidas maize monochromatic uniform, in addition to some flashy maize shoes.

Michigan State wore its Nike Hyper Elite uniform last month at Indiana. Tuesday night, Ohio State will debut its version of the Nike uniform at rival Michigan.

Think former Indiana golfer Jeff Overton is pumped for the Michigan-Indiana basketball game? The 2005 Indiana graduate busted out a pair of the team’s iconic candy stripe pants Saturday at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Video boards are the new thing when it comes to updating football stadiums. And the bigger, the better. Illinois is the latest example of this, as it will add a new HD video board above the south end zone in time for the 2013 season.

We’ve seen Twitter handles or hashtags in end zones, on football fields and on basketball courts. And if it wasn’t for the NCAA rejecting its latest request Monday, Akron would have had its team Twitter handle (@ZipsMBB) on the nameplates of its jersey Saturday. Instead, the Zips will put @ZipsMBB on their warmup shirts.

It’s Coaches vs. Cancer weekend, and that means coaching staffs around the nation are wearing gym shoes on the sidelines to help raise awareness for the deadly disease. No company outfits more Big Ten schools than Nike. Let’s see, there’s Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue, for a total of seven schools. If you caught the recent Gonzaga-Butler game, you probably have a good idea why this is being mentioned. Nike put Gonzaga in the awful (practice) jerseys that featured the school’s logo above the number.

The “CMS40″ patch and warm up shirts Iowa wore Saturday were a nice touch to honor former Hawkeye Chris Street on the 20th anniversary of his death. The Hawkeyes wanted to do even more to remember Street, however the NCAA nixed the team’s first idea. According to HawkCentral.com, the NCAA wouldn’t grant Iowa permission to wear special jerseys with “STREET” on the nameplate.

Iowa will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Chris Street’s death at Saturday night’s game vs. Wisconsin on BTN/BTN2Go. Street, who died in a car accident on Jan. 19, 1993, will be honored at halftime, along with Iowa’s Chris Street Award winners, first handed out in 1993. The Hawkeyes also will wear a patch on their jerseys, just above the “B1G” logo, that includes Street’s initials and number (CMS 40).

The Wisconsin men’s hockey team will wear a special throwback uniform for the OfficeMax Hockey City Classic on Feb. 17 at Soldier Field in Chicago. The sweater is a reproduction of what the 1931-32 team wore, and it’s pretty slick. See a photo of the sweater in this post.

Sunday night’s GoDaddy.com Bowl marked new Purdue coach Darrell Hazell’s final day on the job at Kent State. Here’s to guessing college football fans won’t soon forget it. Interestingly, it had nothing to do with the close 17-13 decision. No, it had everything to do with Kent State’s head-turning helmets.

Nebraska and Wisconsin wore special adidas uniforms this season on the gridiron, and they’ll do the same on the hardwood. On Friday, the schools released alternate uniforms that should look familiar to anyone who watched the NBA on Christmas Day.

Just as it did in its 1999 Rose Bowl win over UCLA, Wisconsin will wear red pants Tuesday against Stanford in Pasadena. The Badgers, who incorporated roses into the uniform and helmet in last year’s game, also went with red pants against TCU in the 2011 game.

Michigan won’t be the only Big Ten team wearing an alternate matte helmet for its New Year’s Day bowl. Northwestern, which debuted a matte black helmet earlier this season, will rock another matte look in Tuesday’s Gator Bowl.
