We have seen some loud alternate uniforms in the Big Ten over the past couple of seasons. Michigan State is taking the term “loud” to a whole new meaning on Saturday. According to the Spartans’ official basketball Twitter account, @MSU_Basketball, the Spartans will be sporting new “Mean Green” Nike Hyper Elite Disruption uniforms vs. No. 5 Maryland (6:30 p.m. ET). Ohio State associate head basketball coach Dave Dickerson missed Saturday’s game at Connecticut due to the death of his sister, Gloria Heyward. To honor Heyward, the Buckeyes wore “GH” patches on their jersey and the Ohio State coaching staff donned “GH” pins on their suit coats. Dickerson, the former coach at Tulane, came to Ohio State in 2010 and was promoted to his current position in 2011.
Nebraska will debut a new adidas alternate uniform vs. Southeastern Louisiana at 7 p.m. ET tonight on BTN (watch on BTN2Go). The design is a nod to the past, bringing back the script “Huskers” and using the school’s scarlet and cream color scheme. Cream is almost always a nice touch on alternates, and this is no exception. Here’s to guessing a majority of Nebraska fans will like this alternate. Adidas revamped Nebraska’s uniforms this season, so the Huskers have debuted several designs to open the 2015-16 campaign.
The No. 5-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes are breaking out some alternate uniforms for their primetime matchup against Minnesota tonight, and they are sharp! [ Watch Iowa vs. Minnesota at 8 p.m. ET on BTN/BTN2Go ] The tops are black with “Iowa” printed in gold, along with the numbers and the Nike swoosh. The Hawkeyes’ pants are also all black with the yellow Nike swoosh on the upper left side and the yellow Hawkeye logo on the right. Indiana is set to kickoff the 2015-16 college basketball season with a matchup against Eastern Illinois tonight at 7 p.m. ET on BTN Plus. [ MORE: Watch tonight’s Eastern Illinois vs. Indiana on BTN Plus ] Expect the Hoosiers to be sporting their traditional cream and crimson colors in tonight’s opener, but that won’t be the case in next week’s Maui Invitational. For the first two games of the tournament, Indiana will be wearing its new “Iced Out” uniforms by Adidas.
