When it was announced last week that Maryland was joining the Big Ten, I predicted Under Armour would come up with some crazy uniforms for future Maryland-Northwestern football games. Turns out, we didn’t have to wait until 2014 for it. Under Armour, which outfits both schools, designed some crazy shoes that select players wore during Tuesday’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge game.
There’s no doubt who Penn State’s leader is. And we’ll see proof of it in Saturday afternoon’s season finale against Wisconsin at Beaver Stadium. The Nittany Lions are wearing No. 42 on the left side of their helmets in honor of injured senior Michael Mauti.

Maryland it is not, Rutgers is no slouch in the uniform department itself. To be fair, though, no Big Ten school can challenge Maryland when it comes to uniforms and helmets. The Scarlet Knights, outfitted by Nike, mix it up quite a bit – only in a tamer manner than Maryland.
It was rumored to happen, and it will. On Monday night, Ohio State unveiled the Nike Pro Combat Rivalry uniform the Buckeyes will wear against Michigan on Saturday. According to Nike, this is the “most technically advanced integrated uniform system.”
Other than Oregon, few college teams have garnered more attention through uniforms than the Big Ten’s newest member. Maryland, an Under Armour school, isn’t afraid to push the envelope (like this or this), and much like the Ducks, it rarely sports the same look from one week to the next. Hop inside for a breakdown of the school’s many looks.
Prior to last season, Ohio State wore Nike Pro Combat uniforms for the previous two rivalry games against Michigan. Will the Buckeyes make it three out of four years? The internet is abuzz over this picture, which Ohio State beat writer Ben Axelrod tweeted with this text: “The Ohio State team shop/Nike may have accidentally revealed this year’s pro combat 2002 tribute uniform.”
Iowa rolled out the Veterans Day uniforms today for today’s game against Purdue. BTN’s Field Pass was live from the game and we captured this early look at the uniforms during warmups. The look is to honor members of the U.S. military. Earlier this year we got a look at something when a sporting good store unveiled a new look for Iowa. Today’s game is on BTN/BTN2Go today at noon.
Camouflage is in. A day after Michigan State unveiled its camo look for this week’s game in Germany, Ohio State released its uniform for Friday’s Carrier Classic. And much like the Michigan State uniform, it’s hardly lacking in the camo department. You’ll find it on the jersey, shorts, socks and shoes.
The Michigan State men’s basketball team wore much-talked-about camouflage uniforms for last season’s game on an aircraft carrier. It will don even more camo when it takes on Connecticut in the Armed Forces Classic on Friday at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
The Michigan men’s basketball team opens up the revamped Crisler Center with an exhibition game Thursday night. If you haven’t seen the place, it looks fantastic. See for yourself in this Michigan Basketball Facebook photo gallery. Not too shabby, huh?

Two new Big Ten helmets were introduced to the college football world in Week 8 action Saturday. There was Michigan State’s HydroChrome lid and Northwestern’s matte black shell. Here’s a running gallery, in chronological order, of the new helmets we’ve seen so far during the 2012 season.
And here we were thinking Northwestern was just wearing an all-black uniform for today’s big-time Legends Division battle with Nebraska. As it turns out, the Wildcats also have a new matte back helmet, which features a massive Wildcat. Here’s the team’s usual helmet.

It was rumored to happen Saturday at Michigan, and it’s official: Michigan State is wearing new HydroChrome helmets for this afternoon’s rivalry game. Watch a quick video of the new helmet that we grabbed from our exclusive BTN Field Pass camera that was live from Michigan Stadium prior to kickoff.
We’re just a couple weeks away from the official tip of the 2012-13 college basketball season. With three teams ranked in the top 5 of the preseason Coaches Poll, the Big Ten is expected to be the nation’s premier conference. But before the season tips, Clothes Call wanted to take a look at some of the uniform changes Big Ten fans can expect to see this season.
Northwestern, as expected, unveiled its new Under Armour basketball uniform Wednesday. Unlike the school’s new football jerseys, it doesn’t feature the Northwestern Stripe across the numbers. That’s a bit of a surprise, considering Under Armour placed it on the team’s practice jersey.
It will be a blackout Saturday at Ryan Field for Northwestern’s highly anticipated tussle with Nebraska. The Wildcats, who last week wore black pants on the road for the first time this season, announced Monday that they will debut a new black Under Armour jersey and sport an all-black uniform this week.
How are you carving your pumpkin this Halloween? A couple of dedicated Ohio State fans may have an idea for you. During the Ohio State-Indiana game on Saturday night, BTN cameras spotted two Buckeye fans wearing pumpkins on their heads that they carved and decorated as Ohio State helmets. It was pretty awesome. Check out the picture in this post.
Minnesota running back Donnell Kirkwood is a powerful runner, and he showed it Saturday afternoon. In the second quarter of Minnesota’s home game against Northwestern, Kirkwood delivered such a blow to a defender that his helmet decal came flying off. It’s something you have to see to believe. Watch the rare equipment malfunction now.
Nike Pro Combat uniforms are nothing new to college football. But college basketball, that would be something we’ve never seen. According to Diamond Leung, of MLive.com, the Spartans may became “either the first or one of the first teams chosen to wear Nike Pro Combat basketball uniforms this season.”
Michigan head coach Brady Hoke recently bought 50 ChuckStrong T-shirts that he and his coaching staff will wear to Saturday’s game against Illinois. The Indianapolis Colts created the shirts last week to raise money for charity in support of their first-year head coach Chuck Pagano, who is on leave while he battles leukemia.
We’re always interested in the latest fashion trends across the Big Ten, and it’s of particular interest every Saturday during the fall. On Saturday, one of our show producers noticed something rather interesting about Michigan’s uniform for its Big Ten opener at Purdue.
Hardcore sports fans will show their allegiance on just about anything. That includes caskets. How can we forget this memorable – and creepy – Ohio State one? And thanks to first-year Nebraska men’s basketball coach Tim Miles, we have a Nebraska-themed casket – sans corpse, luckily.
Purdue fans were not sold on the new logo Nike recently gave the school’s athletic teams. That being the case, they may have an issue with the basketball team’s new uniform. They shouldn’t be surprised, though, considering the football team’s 2012 duds feature the updated train.
Nike outfitted Ohio State with Pro Combat uniforms for its games against Michigan in 2009 and 2010. So when an Ohio State journalism student tweeted pictures of what he said was a Nike Pro Combat uniform for this year’s game, it got our attention. Ohio State’s response? It told me it has not announced anything with regard to any uniform change for a game in 2012.
The Nebraska men’s basketball team will close down the Bob Devaney Center in new uniforms this season. @NUequipment tweeted a picture of the team’s new jersey Monday, and it looks a lot like Michigan’s new duds – err do Michigan’s look like Nebraska’s?
